We had the good fortune of connecting with Ray and Rebecca Estrella and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ray and Rebecca, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Opening our own beach brand business has been a dream we have nurtured for many years. Our thought process in opening our own beach brand business has been driven by a deep passion for beachwear and the desire to turn a dream into a reality. Creativity has played a significant role in shaping our brand identity, from designing attractive products to developing unique marketing strategies. As we envisioned our own beach brand with genuine enthusiasm in our hearts, we wanted to create products that one could enjoy in their leisure time. Our thought process reflects a blend of determination, innovation, and a commitment to making a positive impact in the beachwear industry.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Together as siblings, we have combined our talents to create Beached Bum Life. We have worked in hospitality management along with Print and Design for over 30 years. Creating a printing business, managing others stores and products and giving exceptional customer service in all our fields. What sets us apart ultimately, is the unique combination of individuality , creativity, authenticity, and relentless pursuit of artistic evolution. Our love for the products we create and design is not just a reflection of our talents, but a glimpse into the soul of truly remarkable people.

Creating Beached Bum Life was not all that easy. There was so much more to creating a business name, logo , finding the right products, designing the artwork, marketing, legalities , documents and then going full force to make it happen.

We have learned so much along the way and it is a continuous learning experience. We have learned the importance of resilience and perseverance in the face of challenges and setbacks. Building a business is a journey filled with ups and downs, and your ability to stay strong and bounce back from difficulties has been crucial to moving forward. Just never give up and go for your dreams to make them a reality.

Our beach brand is for those who love the carefree existence of relaxing on the beach and enjoying the outdoors when they can. We all work so hard in life and forget the little things , like caring for ourselves and our mental health. Beached Bum Life is about celebrating the beauty and tranquility of the beach and outdoors, promoting a sense of inner peace, joy and connection with nature. Our products are to make those moments just a little bit better by putting a smile on your face.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
South Florida is known for such beautiful beaches, national parks and great bars, restaurants and nightlife. We would probably start off on a cabana at Niki Beach for some relaxing by the water with a Mojito and some champagne at hand. After freshening up from the hot sun we would get ready for some happy hour at Monty’s on the beach. They have music, drinks and a great raw bar for happy hour. Wynwood would be perfect for dinner and drinks. It is full of wonderful art and great bars with craft beers, cocktails and delicious food. Early evening would be good to do wander around Wynwood, since it won’t be as hot as the daytime. Oleta park would be perfect to go kayaking the next day and maybe reach out to the sandbar where everyone gets together to have some fun on the beautiful blue waters. They also have bikes to rent and several different trails from easy to rough courses.

Dinner and Show would be a wonderful reservation idea at Mango’s Tropical Cafe. I think everyone that comes to Miami should at least stop by and enjoy the wonderful show, drinks, food, salsa lessons and then party it up with the dj’s as the night progresses. It is a lot of fun and gives us plenty to do while there.

Viscaya Museum would be really nice to go to and walk around in the day to see this beautiful mansion so full of history. If possible and we could venture to Key West for a couple days, I would definitely recommend. The trip alone down to Key West can be a lot of fun if you make pit stops. A snorkeling tour off of a boat by any of the national parks is always amazing. They take you out to the ocean reefs and let you venture the waters for an hour or so. On they way back, music and drinks are usually served. From there, I would stop at Bahia National Park to jump in the water and enjoy breathtaking views. Key West would be the last stop to eat some fresh seafood, yummy key lime pie and just listen to all the bands in the bars that have so much charm to them.

After a couple of days in Key West, we would come back to Miami for a stop at Brickell to enjoy an evening of shopping and plenty of very nice restaurants.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would definitely like to give a shout-out to our super supportive family and friends who have been by our side throughout this journey of creating Beached Bum Life. Their encouragement, advice, and belief in our vision has been invaluable in overcoming challenges and staying motivated.
