Meet Spencer Carpenter MBA | Director/Financial Advisor, Real Estate Investor, Franchise Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Spencer Carpenter MBA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Spencer, how do you think about risk?
I feel that I am a very curious and passionate person, so I love to pursue opportunities that challenge me to learn more about myself, others, and the world around me. Having a growth mindset and being driven to learn new skills and experiences has helped me become a more well-rounded leader. By the time I was in my 20’s, I was a licensed Financial Advisor covering a large territory primarily in palm beach county. Since then, I’ve challenged myself to keep learning and pushing forward. Working in the financial services industry is complex and dynamic, so I’m constantly having to adjust with the times. I need to be on top of everything from what’s happening in the stock market to the latest technology. Most importantly, I make a conscious effort to understand different learning and communication styles so that I personally connect and adapt to my clients’ needs. On top of this, I have a love for real estate and balance my free time as a real estate investor and landlord. I stay busy but believe being a life-long learner is how you can advance yourself and the world around you.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a purpose-driven Financial Advisor for Truist Wealth, partnering with clients, families and business owners around the country to achieve their goals and aspirations. I believe when you understand what matters most to you in life, you can build any strategy to achieve it. I’m excited to bring this kind of thinking to my clients. Often, clients want to start with a financial goal in mind. Instead, my team and I first start by helping them to understand their “why” by listening and getting them to break down their values, what inspires them, the legacy they want to leave in their community, how to pass down a family business, the list goes on. When you understand your values and purpose, you’re more likely to stay on track with your financial plan. As I’ve grown throughout my career, I’ve found that when you stop and listen, you see the world through the eyes of your clients. This has been one of the biggest lessons. I’ve also learned to respect everyone while earning the respect of others. I’m not better than anyone and nobody is better than me. We are all in this world together.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live by the rules “work hard, play hard.” If my best friend was visiting, we would venture into downtown Miami and go to a rooftop lounge like Rosa Sky or Area 31. With the skyline as our backdrop, we can laugh about current events and joke about our past. After burning calories from laughing, we would have worked up an appetite for dinner at Flemings’s or Trulucks. Here I found some of the best chefs in South Florida. A short uber ride away will take us to the Heat game at the Kaseya Center. If we have any gas left in the tank, we will finish the night at Komodo’s Miami to laugh some more and plan out the rest of the week.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would be remiss to not give a special thanks to my parents and grandparents for the love and support I have received over the years. I have been very blessed my entire life to have loving parents who not only encouraged me but instilled a hard work ethic. I was raised by two very different, strongminded people yet they had the same goal for me and gave me a healthy balance of compassion and dedication. My mother’s endless love and prayers combined with my father’s determination and ambition helped propel me. I am so amazed at how prayer and a lot of positive energy can go so far.
