We had the good fortune of connecting with John Cole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi John, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I am a very lucky guy my wife and I have a beautiful 8 month old happy and healthy baby girl. Her name is Ember and she is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I’m very blessed to own a successful business that allows wed me to have more time to raise her and be there for my family.
I was able to go to every single one of my wife’s doctors appointments during her pregnancy and I was able to stay home for over a month when Ember was born to help my wife with her recovery. I continued to run the business from my home office during that time as I have an amazing crew that took over for me in the field.
Being a business owner will further allow me to be there and be as present as possible while our daughter grows up.
Ember is also already a business owner as I opened Ember Architectural LLC in her name and plan to developer it as she grows up and one day when and if she wants I’ll hand the keys over to her and let her experience the same life benefits being a business owner has awarded me.
I’m a very blessed girl dad.

What should our readers know about your business?
Getting to where we are has not been an easy task. We started with one cheap welding machine back in 2014 and slowly took any and all jobs we could in the beginning. Most came from Craigslist back in those days then it turned into getting work from Facebook adds until our Google account started getting good traction. I would weld early in the morning starting around 530 before work then work the full day and finish what I started in the morning into the late evening.
All the small jobs slowly turned into slightly bigger ones and I would reinvest every dollar I could into more equipment and we kept scaling it from there.
Still to this day every contractor we meet and job we finish is a stepping stone to the next bigger and better contract.
That helps me to keep thinking of it sort of like a board game and just keep leveling up every year. We did this the most organic way possible and for surely took some time but I am very proud of what we have done and how we did it.
We are built on a solid and strong foundation of high quality work and honesty and have no plans of going anywhere but up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start with personally going to Wynwood and showing off the all the amazing art work it has to offer as it is such a unique spot and a staple in south Florida. Then we would have to hit south beach as our company built some of the iconic life hard towers out on the beach back in 2016 and it would be neat to get to show them off.
As far as food and drinks go any of the spots down on the strip and in the Miami Beach area would do and there are just too many to name. You can get a little bit of whatever your heart desires within just a few blocks of each other. You couldn’t experience all that area has to offer in a week if you tried. The experiences are never ending.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe a lot of my success to my father Robert Cole. He is a 30 year general contractor in south Florida and the only person I have ever worked for. He had me on job-sites before and after work all the way back to the 2nd grade and as I became a teenager I would go and work after school all the way through high school.
I worked in every different aspects of the construction trade before learning that welding and being a business owner was my calling. All that experience has taught me the inns and outs of this trade in every way and that makes me very good at my job as welding is a huge part of the trade.
He showed me what true hard work and dedication meant in a real world situation.
He showed me that there is no time to waste and I took that to heart. I would work before work from 530-8am then from 5pm till 8-9pm on my welding work and slowly started growing John’s Welding & Fabrication into what it’s grown to be.
I’m very blessed to have been shown what hard work means and what it can provide in life if applied.
