We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Romanenko and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anna, how do you think about risk?
I take risks all the time and I can’t think of a time I regretted it! It was scary, but I’m a pretty adventurous person and I’m always down for make fun memories. One of my favorite memories is when I travelled by myself for the first time. I met so many great people and made life-time memories, so I’m glad I took the risk and booked that flight ticket. I wish other people took risks more in their life.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I do is I film free videos (or photoshoots) for strangers. I record that and post on social media along with the results. I usually just walk around and look for people with either cool outfits or hobbies (or anything that catches my eye). Some of my favorite videos were: a video at a fire station in Coral Gables with the firefighters, a pilot that took me on a flight with him, and a video of a hockey team. Sometimes I also do makeovers for strangers, I would bring a nice outfit and offer a makeover and a photoshoot to girls. It’s always super fun and I meet a lot of interesting people with different stories this way. Sometimes it would dramatically change someone’s day and mood, and I’m always happy to make people feel better. It’s not always easy finding the right people. A lot of times people would reject my offer of a free photoshoot, which is okay too, once someone says yes it will always be worth it. Something I learned by doing this is don’t judge people by the way they look. Many times I feel nervous approaching strangers thinking they would tell me no, but once I did some of them turned out to be the sweetest people I’ve met. So, my advice- always shoot your shot, the worst that can happen is someone telling you know, but you will never know what you could have missed out on.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Brickell, every time I come I always fall in love with the city. We would definitely walk in the downtown and check out Brickell City Center. Another must-visit is the Design District, I filmed many of my videos there. There’s a lot of art, bright colors, and cool spots to check out. Another cool place is South Beach, but I don’t go there too often. It’s nice to walk around and roller skate there. One of my favorite things to do is going to Fort Lauderdale Beach when the sun sets down and watching the sunset at the beach (or sunrise if I manage to wake up early enough). West Palm Beach looks really nice too and has beautiful architecture and museums worth checking out.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give shoutout to Alex Stemplewski (@alexanderthegreat), I will forever be thankful to him for everything he did. One day I joined a Zoom meeting he hosted for his followers and that’s when I found out about the Reels challenge. We had to post 1 reel per day for 30 days, and that same day I created my photography account and started with 0. After the challenge was over I kept posting reels as I found it to be fun. Alex is a great coach and I love how he helped his followers to get better at creating content, mentoring us, and doing this type of challenges for us. And the best part is that I met him in person this year! Thank you for always motivating me, Alex!
