We had the good fortune of connecting with Sophia Lawrence and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sophia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to begin to make a learning impact on children who were diagnosed with autism at an early age. With early intervention children will require less services once they get to the preschool stage.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am an Independent Contractor who provide Educational services to toddlers 0-3 who were diagnosed with autism. I came from an education background where I came in as a Substitute Teacher to an appointed teacher to a Dean then the Academy Leader then an Assistant Principal. These experiences were gleaned over a span of over 16 years. It was not an easy road to my accomplishments; getting credentialed took years and money and I realized that some of the problems with children could’ve been solved had they gotten some help earlier in their schooling. I care about children and their learning and it takes a special breed to work with children who are considered as exceptional.

I’ve authored a children’s book called;
“YOU HAVE ONE MORE CHILD TO HELP!” https://a.co/d/fncPbq7

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There is so much to see in New York but one place that certainly stands out is the Museum of natural History. It is so rich in culture and no one is left out – Eating Cafes are also on the same grounds. We could catch a Broadway play such as The Lion King (I enjoyed that) and if Zen Palate is still in business our palettes would be quenched. From the Brooklyn Aquarium to the Bronx zoo then back to the Museum of Arts for some more culture.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My father, Robert Sterling who actually brought me to America and reminded me that I wasn’t here to work instead he brought me here to go to school. My Spiritual Leader/Mentor Bishop Roberts and First Lady Roberts who’ve been supportive in my career and business endeavors
