We had the good fortune of connecting with Devana Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Devana, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
I decided to stop focusing on what I was receiving in life and focused more on giving more. Giving more of myself, my time to others and helping others.
What should our readers know about your business?
Seasoned real estate professional who specializes in residential properties and business acquisitions. I guide clients through the nuances of a transaction to help them achieve their real estate goals. What sets me apart from others is my ability to go the extra mile or above and beyond if you will for my clients without hesitation. I see going the extra mile as a luxury while others may see it as a burden. I’m most proud of the fact that during these most uncertain and trying times, I’ve been able to commit to my business and future success by training & educating myself, while achieving key designations. In my business, it is very important to be nimble and always keep your finger on the pulse. I believe wholeheartedly, I am where I am in business through prayer first and foremost. Secondly, I would say it is my ability to always look ahead of me and not back. I look at life the same way I look at business and that is with complete and utterly optimism. It’s just who I am as a person and its helped me keep a positive mindset. With continuous self improvement and wanting to evolve, I move closer and closer to my goals in business and life. The road has not been easy but then again, nothing worth having comes easy in life, right?! There will always be obstacles but you have to be able to improvise or maneuver in order to overcome. You will have to go up, down, sideways and back again and that is the road to success. There is no straight, clear path to success and I am still on my journey. I have so much to do and so much more to offer. Some of the lessons that I’ve learned along the way is, (You have to dress for the role that you want, not for the role you have) & (The first impression is the last impression so make it count) I would want the world to know that I really do understand that coming up for some air and fun creates a healthy work/life balance lol but I just enjoy working hard and maximizing my potential. People seem to think I just work too hard haha.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start in Miami and take them to Wynwood to check out the area and stop at Wood Tavern to lounge and hear some music. From there we can grab dinner and drinks at KYU. I would also take him to Hillstones in Coral Gables and then walk over to Copper 29 Bar to vibe to the music. Later in the week we can check out Makoto in Bal Harbour, one of my favorite restaurants for lunch or dinner. We could not end the week without checking out YOLOs on Las Olas in Ft Lauderdale. Depending on the time of the year, I would definitely take him to catch a basketball game at the American Airlines Arena in Downtown Miami.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I believe where I am in life is mostly because of my mother. It’s because of her early teachings, guidance and strong work ethic that has inspired me to be the person I am today.
