We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Barakat and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brian, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

The strength of this firm is predicated on an aggressive strategy. We believe that we are more knowledgable, more well prepared trial attorneys than most of our adversaries. As such, we push cases to trial as quickly as possible. Typically this takes the opposition off guard and puts our clients in a position to capitalize, even when they have inferior facts. I began the business so that I could pursue my strategies, rather than the strategies of others.

What should our readers know about your business?

We are business trial attorneys, not merely business litigators. We push our cases to a decision. In doing so, we achieve more favorable results for our clients in negotiation because we have a reputation for being willing to step into the ring.

Our firm has Board Certified expert business litigators. We have three of less than 250 Board Certified Business Litigators in the state of Florida. This is the only distinction recognized by the Florida Bar for expertise. Much less than 1% of all lawyer achieve this goal. We are one of only 3 firms in the entire state that has three certified in this area.

We are international. Our firm has lawyers who are from Italy, the Chez Republic, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, Pakistan. and Turkey. The speak Italian, Spanish, French, Arabic, Hindi, Chez, German, Turkish and English. We are well positioned to litigate or arbitrate your international dispute.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I love to stay at The Biltmore Hotel, even though we live around the corner.

Best spot to visit: Boca Chita Key
My favorite restaurant: Graziano’s Restaurant

Best place to be active: The Coconut Grove Sailing Club.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I would never have achieved success if it weren’t for the mentorship of the following people: Fred Kerstien, my boss and mentor at the State Attorneys’ Office
Eric Isicoff, my boss and mentor at Isicoff Ragatz and Koenigsberg
Jabari Prempeh, who encouraged me to open my business
Peter Abesada, who taught me how to be a business man
Jeff Stay, who taught me how network
Mark Trowbridge, who taught me to take a broad view of the world and each circumstance
Michelle Barakat, my wife, who has supported me at every turn.
and so many more people, without whom I wouldn’t be here today.
