We had the good fortune of connecting with Krystal Queen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krystal, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
I choose integrity because it is a principle that can be seen in every area of your life. When you choose integrity you make the conscious decision to consistently do what is right. An individual who values integrity in my opinion is honest, accountable, loyal and they possess a level of self confidence not seen in most people. As a business owner valuing integrity helps you to stay true to not only yourself but your most valued customers. A small word with big value.
In today’s society it seems like integrity is becoming extinct. People would rather support what they know is fake instead of what is authentic. If you don’t have a mind of your own you’ll be anything. Some food for thought, choose authenticity even when it seems like it’s going out of style.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Hi, I ‘am Krystal Queen a fashion designer, cosmetology instructor and the CEO of the Krystal Queen Collection. I hope to turn you into a diamond leaving you, bright, beautiful and full of sparkle. I’ve been a part of the fashion and beauty industry for 11+ years. Fashion is where I found my peace and happiness being able to express and take pride in my creativity. The most exciting part about the careers I’ve chose they tie together being able to keep up with all the latest trends and continuing education with different knowledge of styles, to help others achieve their vision and goals. It’s like having the best of both worlds.
Dating back to as far as I can remember, as a little girl I always wanted to be a part of the fashion industry. Middle school and high school I did a few modeling gigs. By that time, I thought I had devised the perfect plan that I would become a model, run off to NYC and never look back. A dream which my mother fully supported as she always encouraged me to live by the beat of my own drum. However, as a formal marine my father had other ideas and making sure to instill in me the importance of having a backup plan. Well, boy was he right life wasn’t what I expected becoming a young adult. As you know the American dream for most people is to attend college, graduate with a degree and find the perfect 9-5. The traditional way none of which sounded appealing to me. Despite the negativity my peers had to say, I went with my second love, which was doing hair I attended cosmetology school and then became a licensed cosmetology instructor at the same institution I attended. Being a self-taught seamstress, I started making T-shirts and used the profits to invest in a sewing machine. All It took was one sewing class to learn how to use my sewing machine and the rest was history. I was invited to show case my swimwear designs in “Element’s Fashion Show” in Miami FL. At the end of the show, I was given recognition for my designs. I strutted for the younger version of myself “the young girl with one plan”, rooting for the woman I knew one day I’ve become. A few weeks later I was asked to attend “Miami Swim week”. Designing swimwear was a part of my baby steps starting small then work my way up into bigger, which was designing gowns. Taking a leap of faith and trusting the process opened up other doors that I couldn’t even dream of. The journey was not easy having to meet deadlines which meant staying up long nights, taking criticism, being humble with all the trials and tribulations. Although, I didn’t become the model I thought I would be I was granted everything I wanted and more by putting God first, believing in myself, hard work and dedication. God had bigger and better plans for me, I became a role model by staying confident and true to what I believed in. Remember you should never have to settle no matter how hard life gets, always strive for better, invest in yourself and don’t give up on your dreams.

It is our desire at KQB that the bride feels empowered and has their beauty enhance on their special day. Fun fact, Alot of people ask why I added the name Queen to my brand if my name is just Krystal well, Krystal Queen is not a made-up name its actually my real name “Queen” comes from my grandmother’s first name and to see the brand I created flourish is adding more meaning.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take her to the beach and do some water sports and go swimming with sharks in Jupiter Fl. The restaurant’s I’ll let her pick where she would like to go.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The Lord and for all the vessels he have blessed me with:
My parents, brothers and sister, family and friends and to all my supporters
and also, some of the gowns I designed are inspired by the women who played a special role in my life. I wouldn’t be who Iam today without each of their positive influence and for that I gave a special honor to them by taking that influence and turning my craft into something amazingly precious.
