We had the good fortune of connecting with Mariana Medeiros and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mariana, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Pursuing a full-time career in nail artistry was never the full intended plan; I blossomed where I was supposed to be planted. As I always remember, I would keep myself occupied in my young years with creativity. Besides playing in the sun and streets all day, I was cutting up random things like sewing clothes for stuffed animals or cutting up materials to make them houses like their lives depended on it. During the summer, instead of summer camps often, since kids my age were acting their age, I’d attend art classes at Palm Beach State College. Some professors would teach all types of art/creative classes where every week I was learning something new from photo skills, ceramics, and painting like Picasso with people who also wanted to learn as much as me. After dropping out of the Medical program in high school and feeling stuck for months, I realized that creating murals for friends and family or selling my paintings could be more. During quarantine, being with more time than ever to myself, I left it with a career.
Constantly keeping myself busy through art was always my therapy but making it a career was just the cherry on top. I never would have thought it would get me the life I want to keep pursuing while being me. Pursuing art and being able to be as creative as I’d like comfortably with some good tunes is one of the ways that keeps me of sound mind. The rest like the investment, amazing clients, and supporters, was already in the path and a bonus to why I easily chose to keep pushing as a business owner pursuing art.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Besides getting to do different nails every day, even if it is the same color and style, it is attached to a different set of hands. Meeting new clients and learning about them is very interesting. I meet people from different backgrounds of countries, states, and professions. Getting to do a nice sleek set for lawyers, crossing guards with fun, dramatic nails, being a therapist to therapists, waitresses, or the same people I see at my local grocery store, I love hearing how they find me and getting to know them for a small amount of time until next time. Getting the word out about my business through small promotions benefited my clients and i. If they share their nails on their public social profile, they get $5 off the next service. That paved the way for more eyes to reach my profile, and I created highlights of my client’s sets they uploaded so new people that find my page can see more of my artwork of what I don’t post, which is about 80% and taking up most of my phone storage that I will always save for memories.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my friend visits the city, our next plan is to do a little bit of what we both enjoy doing together. Food and nice moments of doing nothing and enjoying passing time. Since we are always occupied with life, school, or work doing nothing is the best. One of my new restaurants I’d bring her along to is Lemon Grass, and we indulge in some pad Thai and enjoy an expresso martini to fulfill our sweet tooth at the end. Then wed walked off the food, either spending money at District Miami and enjoying the nightlife life, or we could also enjoy some sugar scrub massages downtown and enjoy the night with a walk on Palm Beach.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As usual, I will always shout out and be grateful for my supporting parents first. They’ve always been more than patient and pushed me in the right direction, but never too hard where i don’t want to go anymore. The love and encouragement that always comes in ways I’d never know how to ask for always comes from my three best friends who let me practice on them for hours when I began, advertised my brand like it was their own, and were there for me when i most needed it and couldn’t catch the breath to ask since they were already getting it handled. As much as they say I inspire them, they motivate and inspire me because I inspire them.
