We had the good fortune of connecting with Luner Eugene and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luner, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Life is sought of like a casino house and the stock market. All of us are playing the game of life. And the ones who are rewarded are those who were willing to take a risk. Most of everything that has happened in my life happened because I like to take risk. Pursuing a career as an indie film writer & director takes a lot of risk, determination, faith and high risk.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As challenging it maybe as an indie filmmaker I couldn’t think of doing anything else for the rest of my life. I think having a graphic design and musical background sets me apart from most filmmakers. My first love was music and I use to rap and produced my own music in my garage. The fact that I had to find ways of constantly being creative to promote myself gave me an edge over a few filmmakers. Where most filmmakers focuses more on making the film, I’m writing, co-producing, DP, directing, editing, creating marketing materials and looking for the best distribution deals for our film projects. I wish I didn’t have to play so many roles. The truth is, in the beginning of your film career, we may have to play so many roles to get your few film projects off the ground. What I’m most proud about is our first film got a distribution deal. We’re currently on Amazon Prime and TubiTV Streaming platforms. This is huge for a filmmaker. What’s the point of making a film and you have no marketing plans or distribution for it? Having a place where people can go and watch your film is vital. I’ve heard people say, filmmaking is a hobby for them, but as me its a career. I believe if you treated like a hobby it will be just that. But if you treated like a business or career than opportunities will presents itself. Your heart will always look for ways to get it out to more people and how to make money during it. It wasn’t easy, but our team effort, the unity and understanding we have for another is what got us here. The lessons I’ve learned in this business is, some how everyone and their mother has a movie idea, a script, or always wanted to Act when they see you in the lime light. They never took any training or courses, but they are expecting for you to make a way for them. Believe it or not I’ve brought people in our circle, but many were only coming to take from us to do their own thing. They didn’t really care about our vision or mission. I want people to know that we are serious about our film career and that it’s not a hobby for us. We want to create great content and stories that will not only entertain, but to inspire them as well.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spot in the city is next to where I reside. I live in Victory Park near Downtown, Las Olas of Fort Lauderdale. I live two miles away from the beach. Sometime I take Las Olas and walk east towards the beach to exercise my muscles. Downtown Fort Lauderdale and especially Las Olas has many bars and restaurant. And when you get to the beach there’s plenty of restaurants and bars as well. I don’t really have a favorite restaurant but I do have a favorite pizza shop right on the beach and that’s Primantis Brothers Pizza. Just being on the beach and eating a good meal under this beautiful Florida weather is what I enjoy the most when I’m not editing or trading Forex at home. Most of the time I’m home and it’s my creative space. I love being in a creative state of mind of all times if possible. I feel it’s the only thing that brings me joy and fulfillment apart from hanging with my kids when there are with me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
OMG!!! There were many who supported me through my journey. Hopefully I can remember them all. I would love to thank Valorie Packer who has been like a Mom to me and supported my advertisement business for years and who also introduced me to Motivational Speaker, Les Brown, which I’ve done some work for as well. When I started listening to Les, my thought process and the way I visualized life was was changing and his motivational speeches over the years I believe put me on the right path of never quitting. A huge thanks to Oldy Elisse, who believed in me and trusted me and became my Executive Producer for my first Film project “Loving Till It Hurts.” Rich Jean of Fetti Records Millionaires who have been good to me and who became an Executive Producer on Bae Night Movie. My kids Jasmine and Justin Eugene who continue to motivate me to do the things I take risk on. My Family and siblings; Louidene, Ertha and Tracey who have been there for me in so many ways as well. Of course last but not least Genji Jacques & Sandra Justice, who are more than just my business partners, but are great friends of mine who believes in me and have stand by my side through out some of my toughest years. I’m sure there are more but it would be a book 🙂
