We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan danley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryan, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
the most important thing for me is to remember that I am my company’s first customer…. it allows me to have that product check & balance. Doa co. is company by a fan for a fan. So if I’m not totally stoked on something its back to the drawing board! I want this company to build a good reputation and culture where fans of what I’m doing can trust they are getting a realness, unique and rad product…..and not just someone trying to make a quick buck.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
doa co is a fashion fan art collective…. focusing on fashion & art equally to bring new unique designs for fans to wear proudly and display their love & fandoms of things from horror, halloween, cult classics, comics, & tiki.
I’ve always had a passion for horror, halloween and the macabre and while in between bands I decided to start this company as a mini gothic version of hot topic, do events and make some money. learning a whole industry was a huge learning curve, from fashion to doing events but where there is a will there is a way… I translated a lot of my skills learned from the music industry and there a ton of parallels; networking, events, traveling etc.
to share in my love for certain films and the macabre!!!!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
living in ORLANDO is like living in an adult playground!
so many rad places to go and see….
park pizza here in lake nona is one of my go to’s for food.
orlando has a ton of rad tiki bars to hang & enjoy some spirits, suffering bastard, permanent vacation, trader sams, aku aku to name a few!
also having a Disney & universal annual pass is a must!
as well I surf at cocoa beach as much as I can!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank everyone whose ever bought something or come out to event to hang!
