We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel & Alex Rita &Brito and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angel & Alex, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
We believe that we haven’t stopped learning. Essentially, the most crucial lesson we have learned is to be openminded. We cater to all walks of life in the store and have built a community that is still growing. Everyday the people who interact with us, in-store or online, constantly surprise us with their unique interests and wealth of knowledge.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The best way to sum up our business is the term “Nouveau Retro” We carry retro items that are considered old by today’s generation. The modern generation is interested in things from the 60s and up. Try asking someone under 40 who W.C Fields is, and see a face blanker than a fresh canvas. How are we different? That is a better question for our repeat customers. If I had to guess, I’d say people feel comfortable and at home in the store.
We have learned people have much more in common with each other than you would guess. that sense of community absolutely contributes to the environment at the store.
The challenges we faced when starting were more psychological than anything else. Overcoming that fear and doubts and jumping in was hardest
We want people to know that you aren’t alone out there. People like what you like, and Retroitis is a place you can share that love of nostalgia with people just like you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Retroitis first! Dania beach has great places to visit. Some I’d suggest are Mysidia vintage, The Nostalgia Den, The Pinverse, Tarks (best wings around!), Dania Pointe, Jackson’s ice cream, Dairy Belle, the beach is great and the casino is local too.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Although, we have the support of our loved ones and family. The truth is, had neither of us pushed each other or had faith in the vision, who knows if we could have made it as far as we have.
