We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayhitup and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jayhitup, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
No risk no reward. The smaller the risk, the smaller the reward. Nobody ever want to feel like they’re just “getting by” in life. That’s when the bigger risk choice will present itself. Do what you will with that information 🤝🏾

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I always had a music background in my family. My dad, and mom always knew about the latest music. So I got a good mix of old school R&B and Rap growing up. My family members are musicians, instrumentalist, and my dad’s a DJ. I used to mimic battle rappers lyrics to my friends growing up. I always been in the groove of things with music but when I met my homies in college that’s when I encouraged to drop my first song in 2017. From there I knew it was my thing. To get to where I’m at now wasn’t easy at all. Crazy risk, losses, gains etc. I’ve learned that the more you say yes, the less you are needed. Do what you will with that information 🤝🏾

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh that’s easy❗️ Monday, we at the Office, Taco Tuesday we gone hit Bar Rita. Good vibes over there. Wednesday be cool, but we gone hit that studio. Let them in on how I get down in the booth. Thursday we at TGI Fridays, Sing That Hook w/ my brother EffBee ❗️ Ehhh Friday early on we prolly can do a good breakfast spot. Plenty of those (Tasty G’s, Milk Money Bar, Shooter brunch be hitting too). That night we can hit The Patio. Good vibes in there, depend of the time of the year, Saturday and Sunday for Football so yeah. Saturday, more than likely we Kampin. Sunday we can Def Hit BB’s. That’s the place to be on Sundays fasho

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well, I give a lot of my credit to my upbringing. My hood grew me up so quick and I was exposed to alot of things early on which lead to me just knowing how to put it in music. In addition, my friend and family. They motivate me everyday. Lastly, my manager. Love you Shellie
