We had the good fortune of connecting with Erika Traeger Ananda Spaces and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erika Traeger, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
From a very young age I always loved helping other people. I have a strong belief that everyone deserves to have a beautiful house wether that means having an organized closet, a nice kitchen, or a well decorated space. People always think that hiring someone to decorate a house for them it’s expensive, which sometimes it’s true, that is why I wanted to create a business where I can help clients feel good about their homes, no matter how big or small the job. \I moved to Miami twenty-four years ago and started by selling art by Abel Vázquez, a Mexican artist,. Shortly after I met Andrés Michelena, a renowned Venezuelan artist. Together we did several exhibitions in Mexico and Miami; since then, we have always been working together.Along the way I have been able to meet more artists and started working with different galleries selling art pieces to my clients. My fascinations have always been both art and books. Ananda Spaces was born from the idea of helping clients curate a beautifully organized and stylish space. In Sanskrit, Ananda means happiness.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a professional house organizer and house stylist. My job is to do anything and everything related to decorating and set up a house, including renovations as interior decoration. What sets me apart is that I work and adapt to my client’s budgets and needs. I can go as far as unpacking and setting up an entire house after a move or something as simple as organizing a space. Our work ranges from the most basic, such as organizing a closet or s kitchen to the most challenging, like packing moving an entire house and or curating a whole space where we work with the taste and needs of our clients. We always recommend a deep cleaning of everything a client doesn’t want, doesn’t need, or doesn’t use to be able to put in everything new and move the energy of the house to a better place.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Coconut Grove and Midtow, there are a lot of cool shops and restaurants. The train to Palm beach is also an amazing idea. My favorite restaurants are: Zucca in Coral Gables, La Petite Maison in Brickell, Mandolin in Midtown and Moon Thai in Coral Gables.
Perez Museum and Rubell Museum both offer good exhibitions and nice restaurants.
Galleries in Coral Gables, Wynwood and Midtown are fun to visit, there is always something happening.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Even though I am the face of Ananda Spaces, I wouldn’t be able to do anything without my amazing team. Since the beginning I’ve being surrounded by a group of extraordinary and professional people. I wouldn’t have been able to make any of these happen without these talented artists, such as: Andres Michelena, Carolina Veliz, Abel Vazquez, Viviana Roque, Luis Fernando Salazar, Ingrid Cabral, etc.
