We had the good fortune of connecting with Joel DaSilva and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joel, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Believing in myself and not caring what certain people think about you or your music. You can’t please everyone so stop trying to. If you strongly believe in what you are doing and in your message, the tides can sometimes turn in your favor. You just have to keep hustling and try and stay positive.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have several CDs under my belt and in the final stages of some new music. I’m excited about my new CD coming out this year that I’m very proud of and it was recorded at DogManic Recording Studios in Florida. It’s chock full of rock and roll , blues and roots feel good music. I can’t wait for you all to hear it so please stay tuned. It’s bare bones power trio style and I know you all will dig it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take them to Morikami Gardens, A1A and the beach area, the Mai Kai in Fort Lauderdale, and grab a brewski at Tarpon River or 430 Boardroom and also hit up the music venues the Poor House, Funky Biscuit, Crazy Uncle Mike’s, Kelly Brothers, or Blue Jean Blues. Music venues need the support especially nowadays.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes there are several: HandsOn Broward in Fort Lauderdale they are a great organization that really brings this community together, Zielinksi Creative at www.zielinskicreative.com
