We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Roth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My wife and I had discussed moving from London to the US, and in particular Florida for many years, and when deciding what we would do for a living it could have gone many ways. Over the years since leaving school, I have owned several upmarket cafes and I have also built up a medical staffing agency, while on my wife’s side of the family, they had a very successful glass fabrication company. Since I joined my wife’s family, my interest in the glass industry grew and grew and over the years it consumed me, so the decision when moving was very simple in the end as I wanted to start something fresh and exciting that I could build, while having the comfort of knowing it had been successful in the south of England. I was also bringing something new to the US Market, that I felt could be of use to the marketplace and that could change a space that had stagnated.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Privacy Glass Solutions is a glass fabrication company that specializes in unique glass products. It has taken years for me to understand who and what we are as a company and more importantly who and what I am. I suffer from impostor syndrome and I am my own worst enemy, which also means my company. Through the years I have made many mistakes and allowed others to play into my insecurities, which held up our growth or pushed us in directions we really should not have gone.

I have learned to deal with these demons and realized that I must control my own destiny and believe that my plan for the company is solid, and while listening to others is really important and that I am not always right I must follow my gut and then and only then can I take the full responsibility. We have been in the US for 18 years now, and throughout the years it has been really tough and without some of my team it would have been impossible to get through.

At Privacy Glass Solutions, we love to innovate new products and we have just developed a new product called the Clarity View which we believe is a groundbreaking product for privacy and security in the residential front door market, We launched it at the end of 23 and we are getting rave reviews from Door manufactures, dealers/distributors and homeowners a like. It is a battery-operated switchable glass unit, that can run on AA batteries for 300 days before changing them, it is also half the cost of anything wired on the market.
Privacy Glass Solutions is nothing without the people in it, that help me develop and improve who we are every day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Every year we have family and friends that come and join us from the UK to escape the weather, so for them us moving was a great thing. We are a very homely lot, so do not move far from our Parkland residence, but when our visitors arrive they have to shop, whether it is Boca Town Center or Aventurer Mall it is usually the first thing they request. We are very competitive so there is always Top Golf, Pop Stroke, or any other mini golf involved. Going through the Everglades, or deep sea fishing is always on the agenda as well. My family are Disney Freaks, so a trip to the parks is part of the process, although not my favorite. We are not big foodies and tend to eat in the same places, like Big Bear, Maggie McFlys, and Sushi restaurant and you can’t beat a $10 Costco Pizza. We do love our desserts though and my kids would eat at Jeramiah’s every night if they could and any new Ice Cream, Donut, or Cookie place that opens, we must try it.

We are huge Soccer fans, the only sport in the world!, so much of our lives revolve around it and until recently we had season tickets for Miami which was fun. We are also F1 nuts, and the Miami GP is a must for us to attend every year.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There is no doubt who my shoutout should go to, My wife Hayley, corny I know, but she is number one for sure. We moved 4000 miles from family and friends to start a new life, we had 3 kids at the time (now 4). Her love, support, and cheerleading never wavered even when things were difficult. I traveled 3 times a week every week while she looked after 3 young children in a new country, with no support system. She took it upon herself to build that support system and take charge of our assimilation into Florida, her skills building this was better than anything I have ever or will ever achieve in business. My kids are everything to me, Zach 25, Reece, 22, Jersey 20, and Cooper 16, are the only reason I do what I do, they bring me joy every day and when I think is it all worth it, I just look at pictures of them and know it is.

I can’t say I have a mentor per say, but my father-in-law Geoffrey, is someone that I look up to with immense ore and pride and is someone whom I would always seek his guidance and approval.
