We had the good fortune of connecting with Mercedes Parages Revertera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mercedes, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am Spanish and I have been influenced in my painting by our culture with great artists such as Velzaquez, Goya, Zurbaran , Ribera ,Picasso… also the influence and light of the Mediterranean is very important for me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Painting has always attracted me since I was child , thats why I studied Fine Artes starting my career as an artist . I did many exhibitions over the years until I had to slow down due my 8 pregnancies from which I have 3 wonderful children. What sets me apart from others is my technique of painting on textiles , recovering an ancient art that has been lost due to industrialisation and after years of research and experience I have achieved a good result by painting on linen and natural fabrics.
Im really proud to have achieved one of my dreams and to work on it , but with hard work ,effort and discipline. Im excited to be inspired by Nature to get closer to it through decoration and bring life to many homes .
To get professionally has required may years of experience , to have a clear idea for my brand working hard . I started my brand 5 years ago, I made a set up/ decoration exhibition with all my fabrics and since then I have non stopped orders and projects .
What I have learnt is to be patient going step by step , day by day but enjoying every step and working hard. Everything comes out with effort and perseverance but with time and correct way .
I work on a customised and personalised pieces , each piece is handmade and handpainted so they are unique , choosing in each case the design and drawing . Fabrics are also selected from a variety of quality. Every commission and project is a challenge for me where I immerse myself in my creative world of colours and nature .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Madrid so I would take him to lunch at Magasand very close to the Retiro Park where we would go for a walk or paddle in the lake, then to the Botanical Garden and the Prado Museum to see their collections of paintings and sculpture. For dinner we would go to Sushita restaurant, they have several in Madrid and for a drink we would go to Trocadero. For a day in the countryside I would take him to Los Confites Organic Farm.
