We had the good fortune of connecting with Gaby Kloekke and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gaby, what do you attribute your success to?
The success of our company stems from a multitude of factors that come together. Firstly, having an incredible team that shares a passion for our vision is important. Their dedication and expertise contribute significantly to our achievements.

The Furniture brand Eichholtz itself holds immense potential for growth, characterized by its designs. This, coupled with our prime location in the heart of the Design District, has been a game-changer. Being situated in a premium A-location has allowed us to connect with our target audience and create a distinct presence in the market. As they say, location is everything, especially for a retail store.

Moreover, our commitment to offering fair prices for our designs has resonated well with our customers. This balance between quality and affordability has built trust and loyalty among our clientele. The synergy of a fantastic team, a brand with untapped potential, a strategic location, and fair pricing has been the driving force behind our success. It’s the harmonious blend of these elements that sets us apart and propels us forward in our journey.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Almost a decade ago, my partner and I started an adventure that led to the creation of the OROA Group. Leaving the Netherlands behind, I moved to the Sunshine state and city of Miami with a vision to expand the renowned Dutch Furniture Brand, Eichholtz. Recognizing the potential of this brand, we took a bold step, transporting 24 containers filled with exquisite furniture across the ocean.

Starting the company from scratch in Miami was no small feat, and we faced the challenge of finding avenues to showcase and sell our inventory. It was a pivotal moment when we realized that people didn’t necessarily need to physically experience a sofa before making a purchase decision. This realization made us aware of creating our online presence, giving birth to our first website: OROA.COM

Not long after, we wondered why limit ourselves to one brand? The idea started, and we launched another website, Duchfurniture.com, exclusively featuring furniture from the Netherlands – The growth continued, and we acquired another notable domain: woodfurniture.com. Every item showcased on this platform is not only crafted from wood but is also passionately designed with a focus on sustainability, aligning with the current trend.

In essence, we now proudly carry a portfolio of over 27 furniture, decor, and lighting brands. As a testament to our journey, we stand as the proud owners of the Eichholtz Gallery, nestled in the heart of the Design District—A beautiful 17,000 sqft space gallery with thousands of Eichholtz Designs.

Starting a new business requires a lot of effort and the quest to find the right team – it’s no simple task. Every business venture poses its own challenges, but as you navigate the challenges, it unveils avenues for growth. It’s not solely about the products; the entire company environment contributes to business expansion. A shared vision among all team members is essential. It’s about constructing something meaningful together. We consider ourselves fortunate to have discovered that cohesive team within the OROA Group and the Eichholtz Gallery.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m frequently asked for recommendations when people visit Miami, and aside from the obvious beach visit, I always steer them towards exploring the Wynwood area and the Design District. A decade ago, when we were on the hunt for our initial showroom, the Design District didn’t quite resonate with us, leading us to choose Coral Gables. However, witnessing the flourishing of new businesses and restaurants around the Design District today, it has truly evolved into a fantastic shopping and lifestyle destination.
