Hi La Shawn, how does your business help the community?

At Bloomin Daily Publishers, we’re dedicated to being more than just a publishing house – we’re a community hub of inspiration and empowerment. Our mission revolves around the transformative power of storytelling, believing wholeheartedly that stories have the ability to shape perspectives, connect individuals, and ultimately, change lives.

Through our commitment to uncovering hidden gems and amplifying voices that often go unheard, we strive to ensure that our community is represented in all its diversity and inclusivity. We actively seek out stories that inspire, challenge, and encourage personal growth, sparking conversations that transcend boundaries and ignite the imagination.

One of the ways we put this mission into action is through the Bloomin Kidz Club. Designed to nurture young minds and cultivate a love for reading, storytelling, and crafting among children aged 4-11, this club is a testament to our belief in the power of stories to empower and uplift. By providing captivating stories that inspire belief in oneself and dreams, we aim to empower children to embrace their unique potential.

But our club goes beyond just reading – it’s a creative haven where children can explore and express themselves through engaging crafting activities. We foster a culture of boldness, encouraging children to step out of their comfort zones and embrace new challenges, all while having fun and making new friends.

Currently, our club is filled with enthusiastic members, each with big dreams and bright hopes for the future. From future doctors and firefighters to aspiring chefs and nurses, their ambitions are boundless. We’re dedicated to nurturing their confidence and belief in themselves, guiding them towards a future filled with endless opportunities and exciting possibilities.

Through Bloomin Kidz and book publishing, we’re committed to making a positive impact in our community through the power of storytelling.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have always found comfort and inspiration in the arts, whether through poetry, crafting, journalling , watching movies, and even listening to music. This deep passion led me to study Communication Arts and Technology, preparing me for a career in the creative field.

My professional journey began in a Marketing Agency, where I learned the intricacies of selling products and services. Simultaneously, I ventured into entrepreneurship, launching my first business selling personalised cushions. Though it started as a passion project, the stress of running the business eventually led me to close it down after two years.

However, even amidst the setbacks, my passion for the arts remained unwavering and I found a new love, storytelling. I came to realise the profound impact that stories have in inspiring change and fostering connections. It was more than just words; it’s about forging meaningful bonds and touching lives. It’s through this realisation that I discovered my true calling.

Fuelled by a deep sense of purpose, I ventured into entrepreneurship once more. I founded Bloomin Daily Publishers and subsequently established the Bloomin Kidz books and craft club. I was able to publish my own books, help others to tell their stories and impact the lives of children.

My journey has been marked by challenges, but each obstacle has served to strengthen my resolve and shape me into the passionate storyteller and entrepreneur I am today. My brand is built on the belief that every voice deserves to be heard, and I am committed to empowering others to share their unique narratives with the world. Through resilience and perseverance, we can inspire and uplift, leaving a lasting impact on those around us.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d say stop at a supermarket and get your favourite snack and head to the look out on Jack’s Hill. You will want to see Kingston at night.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have a very BIG support system. I believe I got my courage to step out and pursue my dreams from my parents who always encouraged me to just TRY! They have always natured my creative abilities and supported my projects. Likewise, I have very supportive siblings who are always there to help me. This coupled with the fact that I always find myself surrounded with people who want to see me WIN has fuelled me to get this far.

There are literally too many names. Thank you to my little community, who show up to every event, like my posts, buy my books, send words of encouragement, send prayers and lend support. I hope to pay it forward by helping, inspiring, motivating and loving others just as much as you all have done for me.
