We had the good fortune of connecting with Stef Salcedo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stef, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to share an idea I had about making modern jewelry in various styles. I had a mission to spread about love, Jesus, and following your dreams. I started out in the beginning making a lot of modern protective jewelry, then a life change came about and completely shifted from when I started and I’m so happy I followed through.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I first started I had no idea where to even begin. I didn’t know how many things I would need to begin and that’s when the research began. I did everything from designing my logo, finding a reliable shipping service, personalizing items to fit my customers needs, the marketing, the emails, the list goes on and on. Not to mention how many vendors I went through to try and find quality pieces that would be unique to my business. Many sleepless nights and tiring days to perfect my craft and be able to offer something that no one has been able to do. Unique one of a kind pieces.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well since I’m a local here in south Florida I would definitely take them to some eatery in Miami. Wynwood would be my go to because it’s an Art district and so many things to see plus great food. Beach would be on my list since I love the ocean vibe and also I would visit different museums, famous landmarks, and all the awesome state parks that we have to offer. Key Biscayne would be amazing too since it’s all blue waters, island vibes, and great people to be around.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank God for always guiding my steps and showing me the way. My husband Antonio for believing in me since day 1. For going to countless markets with me and helping me with everything I’ve ever asked. Thank you for holding it down at home, and going along with all of these crazy ideas I’ve had. Thank you to Tj, Audrina, Gianna, and Harley my beautiful children, for being my why and my inspiration as to why I started this business. I love you all deeply and without you OG Jewels wouldn’t be possible.
