We had the good fortune of connecting with Susan Schultz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Susan, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
Healing Waters Health Center is a testament to a shared vision of transformation and empowerment. Founded by Denise Gunderson, whose sudden passing is a profound loss, the center continues to be a beacon of hope and healing. Denise’s vision for the center was to help people understand themselves and move past their own resistances, and that vision has indeed created a legacy that will endure.

Our mission, crafted together, has always been to heal, teach, and empower individuals—one at a time—to create peace within and share it with the world. This mission shines through in our treatments, classes, staff, and the very essence of our center. We aspire for every person who walks through our doors to feel like part of a family, to feel cared for, and to embark on a journey of self-understanding. It is from this place of understanding that true empowerment emerges, leading to greater joy, peace, and health.

Over the last year, a cornerstone concept has emerged: the “I AM.” This represents our inner self, our guidance system, which may be known by many names—God, Buddha, Allah, the universe, source—but the name is less important than the connection it signifies. We aim to help people tap into their “I AM,” to rediscover their love for themselves, their inner peace, and their innate power. The “I AM” movement is designed to be inclusive, allowing entry into schools, businesses, and other spaces in need. It’s an inward movement, a personal journey of understanding and aligning with the unique vibration and guidance within each of us. It’s about celebrating the individual gifts that we each bring to the world.

This mission has been our guiding light, and it continues to be so. Everyone we meet is invited to join us in this mission, spreading it through their interactions, creating a ripple effect of transformation. The legacy we aspire to leave is one of profound internal discovery, communal empowerment, and the celebration of each individual’s contribution to the fabric of the world.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am in a pretty big process. A month ago, I had a business partner, and now I am sole owner. Within this short period of time, I have learned a lot about things I didn’t need to know before. I have learned to ask for help from people who know more than me. I have learned to lean into my emotions of fear, overwhelm, and uncertainty.

The biggest lesson I keep practicing is to stay present. Going into the future of the unknown can spin me. So I stay as present as I can. Being here and now, I can be guided along the way versus being overwhelmed and fearful which then takes me into another direction.

Healing Waters Health Center is an amazing place and has an amazing mission. We desire to have everyone starting to look inward into their own guidance system “I AM” . Being still and present and tapping into what makes you happy is the beginning of how to do that. We want everyone to know happiness and peace does not live outside of themselves, it comes from their “I AM”.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We live in Stillwater, Minnesota. It is a beautiful city right on the St. Croix River. It was an old lumberjack town. It has amazing restaurants and quant little stores. I love to listen to music, so would find some bands playing downtown. Summers are best here. We have a cabin on a nearby lake, so I would take them there as well. Fishing, canoeing, swimming, hiking, are all some of my favorite things to do. I love more quiet life and enjoy the beautiful outdoors.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate my shoutout to my beautiful business partner, Denise Gunderson (who recently passed). She was my mentor, teacher, friend and partner in crime. She taught me about life and how to ride the ups and downs. She taught me how to get back into my flow, change my perceptions, and most importantly be present. Her words and love with live within me and I will do my best to continue teaching these important lessons for all to learn.
