We had the good fortune of connecting with Remone Benjamin-Gordon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Remone, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
The smile on my son’s face. The happiness in his laughter. The joy in knowing he is a direct manifestation of God’s love to this earth. He is my gift from God through which a part of me; and his dad, will always be living on. So my responsibility to him is to keep going, is to do the best that i can, no matter how tired, frustrated, or overwhelmed I may feel. I just cant quit.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Public Health Nurse; acting surveillance nurse in the parish of St. Mary. In the North East Region, in Jamaica. Nursing sets me apart because it gives me front seat access to people in different settings; work, home, school or even institutionalized such as in the hospital, prison. It provides first hand encounter and experience with individuals as they currently go through the best and worst phases in their lives. this teaches me how to appreciate life and value people so much more. It provides such great sense of accomplishment to know that you helped someone to get well and be able to function to their fullest potential. it is just an overwhelmingly amazing feeling to know that the world is a better place because I make a difference on a daily basis.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to church on Sunday so that they can get their spirit refreshed by being a part of a great worship experience. Monday we would go to the beach. I love the sound of the ocean and the expression of the waves as they tell their story in God’s beautiful creation.
we would basically do a road trip.
Tuesdays we would climb the falls at Dunn’s River, then off to Hong Kong restaurant for Chinese food. Later we would go to margarita village where we would participate in their karaoke, have a couple drinks and have some chicken wings
Then we moving out of St Ann and heading towards Trelawny on Wednesday. so we would stop by ultimate jerk center and have some jerk pork/chicken. Then we heading to the Martha Brae River for rafting.

Friday we would go to the movies in Montego Bay
Saturday would be rest day- get hair and nail done and then shopping
