We had the good fortune of connecting with Cookie the Comedian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cookie the Comedian, how do you think about risk?
Risk is and will always be a necessary for growth and innovation. One must be able to realize the potential consequences. Example before this webseries I had a job. In my life I have made bad decisions with the intention of good. This time my decision to quit my job and focus on my project was the best decision I ever made. Some think the reward is monetary for me and it’s the furthest thing from my mind. My story has to be told by me and shared to help not only the generation coming behind me but to help my daughter realize she can accomplish anything she puts her mind too. She can assess all issues cautiously approach with love and understanding it’s not the end but the beginning.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been a comedian for a little over 13 years now born and raise in Harlem, NYC. In 2017 I went through a very tough time I got married and left all within 6 months of marriage, I was depressed and down on my luck so I decided to write a movie, then I change to a biopic about my life as a comedian and the downfall of my marriage and failed relationships then finally I decided to do a web series and I named it BAD DECISIONS THROUGH MY VISION it is about the bad decisions we all make with some good intentions in it in our life. This web series shed light on mental health, and how we as humans ignore the red flags in relationship. What makes me different from the rest is that I really am my authentic self. I’m an open book , I’m raw and uncut , I’m not afraid to show my transparency and flaws. I put my life out there in hopes it helps someone who is in my shoes and feel like no one’s know I provide that it’s ok to mess up we all human we been there. I’m the underdog that’s leaving her mark.
It wasn’t and it hasn’t been easy stepping out in faith building a business and taking on the extra hats as the director, producer, and actress, and camera woman. Not to mention being a female in the business it’s harder for us cause we are often respected so we have to be able to stomp with the boys at the round table, I keep reminding myself that I have a bigger focused it’s bigger then being a comedian. One of good friends in this business Omar Thompson told “ don’t sleep your way to the top if you want to sleep with a man do it because you want to not because he said he going to get you to the top’ and that stayed with me ..
some lessons I’ve learn on the way are, it’s never person just business, everyone will never share you same passion for your work as you do.
I want the world to know that it is ok to be yourself and be an individual my brand is about own your flaws and accepting the things you can’t change. My brand is about identifying self worth.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
OK we have having my friend stay at the Marriott on 43rd St. and eighth Avenue meeting them with coffee from Levine the Cookie spot with the lemon loaf and the butter loaf and the cookies we would walk to 34th St. so that we can get the sides early before it’s crazy After empire we would go to. We would shoot uptown to go to 119th St. between Saint Nick and eighth Avenue to go to the brunch spot that’s always brunch on by Joe. I will have to get you that information then we will go to 125th St. and we will see the Apollo and the Victoria but the hotel that just opened maybe catch some drinks. There are some sites there or maybe I would have my friend stay at the new hotel in Victoria in Harlem Shoot back downtown Annes take a shower maybe walk to Krispy Kreme‘s walk to 42nd St. take a nap I’ll get up and come to the nightlife. I’ll take them maybe to Harlem Harlem nights or arm the roll on 104 10038/338 and 139th St. and seventh Avenue or take them to roadhouse on 115th St., and eighth Avenue, and then the next day we will go to the ferry take the ferry across the Staten Island. There’s a place where there’s saunas and food but it’s more like you can do a spa day there and if it’s your birthday it’s free and then come back over and shoot to lamb, lobster and lobster and burger, burger lobster I have burger and lobster and go down 23rd St., and literally just walk around and shop and sightsee a little bit more maybe taking a movie at one of the theaters Try to get some Broadway tickets for the next day then we will shoot to Brooklyn on another day, Jelly gave her some some some mom and pop black owns Junior cheesecake is definitely try to see if they have a game at Barkley because they usually do have a game at Barclay take it to the new Barclay theater maybe the next day we go and take a tour of Madison Square Garden because they also have a tour. Oh, definitely shoot up to four W. because a 4west has an open mic karaoke on Wednesdays go there I’ve got a Harlem nights for open night owl karaoke try the bistro. They also have a live band maybe on Thursday and Friday hit up Savannah’s Friday night because they’re open Friday Saturday and Sunday.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I don’t have one particular person to shout out, My shout out is to all the family and friends and supporters that always push me to never give up and told me it was it’s ok to be myself and be different.
