Meet gavin gone | DJ & Music Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with gavin gone and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi gavin, what do you attribute your success to?
Since a very young age, I’ve always been passionate about the art of djing and the dance music scene. This passion always keeps me interested in mastering my craft. In the ever-evolving world of dance music, it’s essential to always try out new things in a DJ set. Keeping a crowd dancing all night and surprising them throughout the night is a key factor of what makes a Gavin Gone set stand out.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In a world full of DJs, I’ve been very fortunate to learn from others and craft a unique style of DJing and music that helps me stand out. Since the age of 16, I’ve been DJing in clubs throughout the US. It all started for me back home in Brooklyn, NY, when I landed my first residency. Through this residency, I was able to meet some great people who helped push my name within the city and led me to DJ at bigger clubs. However, this wasn’t an easy task, I had to constantly keep evolving my sound by studying other DJs as well as through trial and error within my own DJ sets. Today, I’m at the point where I’m playing on the same lineups as some of my favorite artists and working with record labels to release my music. One thing I’ve learned through my years of DJing and producing music is that there’s always something new to learn.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For my college town of Tallahassee, FL, I’d take them to Madison Social to hang out and enjoy some great food. When it gets a little bit later in the night I would hit some of the more electric spots in the city such as The Warehouse on College or Recess. Those two spots are always a hit with the energy and the music. Depending on when they would come visit a FSU football game is an experience like none other.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a few shoutouts, first to my parents for supporting my passion and always being my biggest supporters. Secondly to my mentor, Matthew Lansburgh, for teaching me the art of crowd control and putting my name on the map. Lastly, I’d like to give a shout out to the whole team over at House Hats Collective for pioneering the new generation of house music. They have been big supporters of me and allowed me to share my music and build an amazing community that shares my passion for house music.
