Meet J. Allen Pealer | New Gospel Recording Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with J. Allen Pealer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi J. Allen, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Honestly, I didn’t pursue this career. It is literally just something that has been inside of me for decades. God has given me a gift to share with his people and I dare not be disobedient. I would love to share with the world the awesomeness that is our God. He opens the door and I walk by his lead.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe I’m a bit different from the norm because I love the old-school and new school equally. You could give me a good ol’ hymn book and we could go to church for hours. Or we could rock out with the new Kierra Sheard and I would be just as comfortable. I come from the background of music. I have a written music and sang background for so many artists for years nationally. I toured, arranged, consulted, directed, and supported the careers of many people from behind the scenes. Now God is bringing me to the forefront in this season. This is a new journey for me of course and I will say it has not been the easiest, but I know I’m on assignment. Being a big boy, some people will automatically judge you and that could close some doors that would’ve been easily open if I looked different. But again, I know what I am here for and this is only the beginning of what God has in store for me. I’ve come to realize that not everybody who has been a part of your life this far is going to be a part of the rest of your journey as well. Friends have fallen off. Family members have spoken against you. Maybe even you lost your own faith along the way. I know all of these stories too well. But I realize that this is much bigger than I. So, regardless of how I’m feeling at the moment, God still gets the glory for me. I must keep pushing going forward with this gift that he’s giving me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I was originally born and raised in Atlanta Georgia. But South Florida has been my home off and on for a combination of 10 years. I have been to some amazing places and met some even better people. I love the feel and vibe of a jazz lounge are a piano bar. We could vibe and sing and just chill for hours in that type of atmosphere. Good music, fun times, the food, and no stress or drama is always the formula for an amazing night out.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I come from a musical family that has given me such a wonderful foundation in the church that I am eternally grateful for. On both sides, my family were active in the members of the church, pastors, ministers of music, and vocalist. Both my great grandmother and grandmother were ministers of music for over 50 years. So my upbringing, as you can tell, has been rooted and grounded in our faith. But there is one person that has given me not only a great vocal foundation, but she held me accountable spiritually. That person being my Aunt Eleanor Jean Hutchinson, well in the Atlanta gospel community. I owe so much to her. She was my push and drive to do Gods will. May she Rest In Peace. I love you Aunt Jean.
