We had the good fortune of connecting with T’roy Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi T’roy, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
A principle that I find deeply important is EMPATHY —the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. It allows for connection, compassion, and a deeper understanding of different perspectives. Empathy fosters collaboration and kindness, qualities that are crucial in both personal and broader social contexts. By valuing empathy, we create a more inclusive and understanding environment, leading to more constructive communication and growth.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m most proud of the ability to help people by providing thoughtful insights, knowledge, and providing relaxing and/or therapeutic stretches. The idea that I can make someone’s day easier or help them feel better is incredibly meaningful to me.
What excites me most is the possibility of continuous learning and evolving to offer even better assistance. Every appointment presents a chance for growth—whether it’s meeting a new client, understanding different body types, or helping people move, breathe and feel better.
I’d like the world to know that my purpose is to help, support, and facilitate better breathing and movement.
Stretch therapy may seem simple on the surface, but in reality, it requires a combination of physical, mental, and emotional skills that make it quite challenging. Stretch therapy is physically intensive work. Some days I spend hours on my feet, using my hands, arms, and body to apply pressure and perform various techniques. Also Stretch therapy isn’t just about pulling muscles. It requires a deep understanding of anatomy and physiology, knowing how muscles, tendons, and joints function. As a stretch therepist I must tailor my techniques to suit different body types, conditions, and needs.
One thing that is important is I have to create boundaries, balancing my role as caregivers while ensuring I protect my own well-being.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I don’t really hangout a lot. I’m more of a home body. But if someone was visiting they probably would have to come to a yoga class with me. My favorite yoga spots are Mimi Yoga in wynwood and Sol yoga on the beach. I also enjoy farmer’s markets, so I probably take them there. There’s one in Hollywood that’s very nice. Like I said I’m a homebody so I would have to ask around for some suggestions for dinner.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to take a moment to thank myself for everything I’ve done and continue to do. Life has had its ups and downs, but through it all, I’ve shown strength, resilience, and a willingness to grow. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, even when the path wasn’t easy. I’m grateful for who I am, who I’ve become, and the journey I continue to take.
