We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeannette Donofrio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeannette, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
The end goal for me is to open a chain of fast fruit restaurants called Fruit Is Life, where people can grab high-quality, delicious fruit anytime—whether it’s smoothies, juices, ice creams, and incredible tropical fruit. Imagine a world where no matter the time of day, or where you live, you can easily eat healthy, conveniently! My mission on this planet is to inspire people to eat more fruit, and I’m working toward that by staying consistent on social media especially with my YouTube channel, publishing books on the topic, and running a Food Addiction Freedom Course for women. This isn’t just a passion; it’s my life’s purpose. A fruit-based raw food diet saved my life and healed me from all my health issues. I’m driven to use everything I do to create a healthy, vibrant world where it’s convenient and easy to eat fruit and be cute!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is all about helping women remember who they truly are and step into their power by becoming sexy, healthy vegans for life. I focus specifically on breaking their food addiction to processed foods—specifically salt, oil, and processed sugar—which are some of the most addictive substances on earth. These ingredients wreak havoc on the body, draining energy and potential, so my mission is to help women break free from these destructive food choices.
The key to my approach is teaching women not just what to eat, but how to make healthy choices consistently. I believe that everyone knows what they should be eating, but the challenge is following through. I guide women to trust themselves again, stay consistent, and build self-belief through action. By holding them accountable and offering support through my courses, I help them stay on track toward their health goals.
Personally, I got here by first doing the work on myself. In 2011, I broke my own food addiction, lost over 60 pounds, and healed from several health issues, including back pain, chronic bronchitis, and IBS. It wasn’t easy, but I had a strong ‘why.’ I was tired of being overweight, depressed, and in pain. Changing my eating habits saved my life.
What I want the world to know is that while change isn’t easy, it is possible. You don’t need to worry about protein or deficiencies when you’re eating a whole-food, plant-based diet full of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. What really matters is what we eliminate—processed foods, meat, and dairy—which cause inflammation and block true healing.
Change is hard, but you’ve done harder things in your life. When you feel stuck, I want you to remember a time when you overcame a challenge. If you did it before, you can do it again. The actions always come before the beliefs so take small actions to start to believe you can change and that will make it easier everyday. Trust me, change is possible but only after you prove it through your actions.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I were to show a friend around Miami, we’d start with my absolute favorite place – Fruit and Spice Park in Homestead! It’s like my personal Disneyland! This amazing fruit farm has over 500 exotic tropical fruit trees, including 150 bananas trees and over 100 types of mango trees. It’s so peaceful, beautiful, and delicious. The best part is that you can pick and eat as much fruit as you want!
Next, I’d take them to Roberts is Here, an iconic store known for its locally grown tropical fruit. You can find treasures like canistel, jackfruit, mamey sapote, soursop, sapodilla, and, of course, Florida mangoes. It’s a fruit lover’s paradise!
Then, we’d head to the beach because I absolutely love swimming in the Atlantic Ocean—there’s nothing better!
I also love Oleta state park where I kayak and paddle board often!
Afterward, we’d stop by the Yellow Green Farmer’s Market, which is open only on Saturday and Sunday. It’s one of the largest and most incredible markets around, with exotic fruit, fresh coconut water, and fresh sugarcane juice!
Lastly, we’d visit the Coconut Grove Farmer’s Market, which is open on Saturdays from 10 to 4. It’s a great spot to enjoy gourmet raw foods and meet some wonderful people. It’s the perfect way to wrap up a fruit-filled adventure in Miami!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a huge shoutout to my dear friend Shari, who’s been my biggest cheerleader since we met in 2021. She was one of my first clients as a plant-exclusive, fruit-based raw vegan accountability coach, and she quickly became one of my closets friends. Shari is the reason I’ve been able to publish my books, launch my course, and accomplish so many of my dreams. Without her unwavering support and encouragement, I wouldn’t have had the confidence to take these big steps. I also want to recognize my best friend Awa, also known as @AwaWorldArt, who motivates and inspires me every single day. The entrepreneurial journey can be tough, but her belief in me has kept me going, even when I’ve wanted to give up.
Lastly, I want to honor my sister, who passed away far too young from a brain tumor at the age of 36. Everything I do is in her name. I live a healthy life because she cannot, and I want to inspire others to make healthy choices so they and their loved ones never have to experience the pain of loss that I’ve felt. Shari, Awa, and my sister are the reasons I’m where I am today, living my passion and doing what I love.
