We had the good fortune of connecting with Artur Meyster and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Artur, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting Normandy Laundry was rooted in both personal experience and a strong desire to bring an essential service my family was using into the modern age. After my family immigrated from Ukraine to New York, chores were a family effort, and laundry was always my responsibility. Over the years, I grew to appreciate the process and even enjoy it. My wife, Giselle, who’s from Puerto Rico, shares a similar story. Since childhood, laundry was something we each did to help our families, so it became something we both understood and valued deeply.

When Giselle and I moved to Miami from Silicon Valley three years ago, we searched for a laundromat that met our standards—one that offered convenience, reliability, and a modern approach. After a few disappointing experiences with Miami laundry services near us, we realized there was a real need for a place that could offer not just attention to detail and care for valuable items, but also affordable, Same-day Fluff & Fold laundry service. We envisioned a laundromat where people could get their laundry done quickly, efficiently, and affordably.

That’s when we discovered a self-service coin laundromat that had been serving Normandy Isles and North Bay Village community for over thirty years. The owner was retiring, and it felt like the perfect opportunity to continue a legacy while addressing a gap in the market. We decided to take it over and transform it into Normandy Laundry, not only to solve our own need but to offer something valuable to the community.

With our backgrounds in technology—mine as a serial tech entrepreneur and Giselle as a Sales Executive—it was surprising to see how antiquated the laundry industry was. Drawing on our experience with food and grocery delivery startups, we focused on re-imagining the laundry experience from scratch. We introduced a seamless, on-demand Wash & Fold laundry service model with a 15-minute pickup, 4-hour turnaround, and a high standard of care, all while keeping prices affordable through technology.

After taking over operations, we had to roll up our sleeves and learn the ins and outs of running a laundromat. We upgrade the facilities, added eco-friendly practices, and made ordering easy online. This helped us attract not only local Miami residents but also small businesses. Boutique hotels, restaurants, nail salons, yacht charters and spas have reached out for help with their laundry needs, and we’ve doubled our business by offering fast, affordable commercial services for towels, uniforms and linens, supporting Miami’s businesses alongside its residents.

Today, Normandy Laundry is the highest-rated laundromat in Miami Beach, serving families, young professionals, and tourists who appreciate a hassle-free laundry experience. For us, it’s incredibly rewarding to help people reclaim their time for the beach, friends, and all the activities Miami has to offer.

What should our readers know about your business?
Building Normandy Laundry to where it is today wasn’t easy. The laundry industry is steeped in tradition, and there were hurdles in introducing a new model that relies so heavily on tech and logistics. Finding the right balance of innovation without compromising quality and reliability took trial and error, but we stayed focused on our mission. A key lesson we learned along the way is to remain agile, especially in an industry that doesn’t typically embrace rapid change. Every challenge we faced helped us refine our processes, and customer feedback has been invaluable in shaping our Same Day Wash & Fold Pick up and Delivery service.

Ultimately, Normandy Laundry is about making laundry simple, convenient, and trustworthy. We want people to see us as a reliable partner that helps them gain back a little time and peace of mind in their day. Whether for families, young professionals, or local businesses, we’re here to make laundry less of a chore and more of a service people can genuinely rely on. Our story is about transformation, community commitment, and elevating a basic need into something exceptional.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting Miami for a day, we’d start with a boat trip on Biscayne Bay, cruising by the skyline and stopping at a sandbar or island to relax and enjoy the view. For lunch, we’d dock at Bayshore Club in Coconut Grove or No Name Harbor in Key Biscayne to enjoy a meal right by the water. Afterward, we’d head to Wynwood to explore the famous street murals and local art scene, wrapping up the day with dinner and drinks at one of Miami’s newest spots in Brickell or Wynwood to experience the city’s vibrant nightlife.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I also want to give a special shoutout to my sister-in-law, Anna Meyster, a Miami-based artist who left her corporate career to pursue her passion and opened her own gallery, Anna Meyster Art. Her journey has been a huge inspiration to me. Seeing her dedication to creating a space that brings beauty and creativity to the community has motivated me in my own work with Normandy Laundry. Just as Anna transformed her passion into a thriving gallery, we’ve aimed to reimagine the laundry experience in Miami with that same spirit of creativity and purpose. https://www.annameysterart.com/
