We had the good fortune of connecting with Genrey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Genrey, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk-taking has been essential in my journey as a singer-songwriter.
Pursuing a career in music is inherently risky—it’s an industry filled with uncertainties, but it’s also where I find my greatest passion. Deciding to invest in myself as an artist, whether by dedicating time to recording, performing, or honing my craft, has required stepping out of my comfort zone repeatedly.

Taking risks has shaped my creativity and growth.
For example, I’ve embraced the vulnerability of sharing my original songs, knowing they reflect deeply personal experiences and emotions. It’s always a risk to put your art out into the world, but the connection it creates with listeners makes it worthwhile.

Risk, to me, is a necessary part of living authentically.
It has taught me resilience, built my confidence, and allowed me to pursue opportunities that align with my dreams, like recording and releasing music while finding ways to integrate it with other creative ventures.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is rooted in authenticity. It’s about sharing raw moments and emotions through music—whether it’s joy, heartbreak, or hope. I write songs that reflect my life experiences, and my goal is always to connect with others who might be feeling the same way. What sets me apart is the realness I bring to my music. It’s not about perfection; it’s about being true to myself and my story.

I’m most proud of the moments when my music resonates with someone—whether it’s through a live performance or a song that gets personal feedback. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the power of persistence. The music industry can be tough, but it’s the consistent effort, the small wins, and the belief in your craft that leads to bigger opportunities. I’ve also learned that it’s important to be patient with myself and with the journey. Things don’t always happen overnight, but every step is part of the story.

What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that it’s all about realness and connection. I create music that is true to who I am, and I want people to feel heard and understood through it. My journey is one of growth, learning, and embracing the raw, imperfect parts of life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d take them to explore the best of Miami. We’d start with a sunrise at South Beach and a coffee at Big Pink, then head to Wynwood for street art and galleries. For lunch, we’d hit La Sandwicherie, then spend the afternoon checking out the shops and murals in the area. Later, we’d enjoy dinner at Zuma and drinks at The Broken Shaker. The next day, we’d dive into Little Havana with Cuban coffee at Versailles, lunch at Ball & Chain, and a visit to Coral Gables to see the Venetian Pool. In the evening, we’d dine at Caffe Abbracci and finish the night at The Sylvester. We’d spend a day in Key Biscayne, relaxing at Crandon Park Beach and eating at Rusty Pelican, then explore Coconut Grove and grab drinks at Monty’s before dinner at Ariete. For a change of pace, we’d take a day trip to the Everglades for an airboat tour and lunch at Robert is Here, followed by a casual evening at The Wharf Miami. We’d spend a day on a boat tour of Star Island, eat at Joe’s Stone Crab, and visit the Design District, ending with dinner at Scarpetta and dancing at LIV. Shopping on Lincoln Road, biking along the Miami Beach Boardwalk, and meals at Cecconi’s and Nobu would be on the agenda, followed by sunset drinks at Juvia. On our last day, we’d wind down with breakfast at The Salty Donut, lunch at Makoto, and a relaxing afternoon at South Pointe Park before wrapping up the trip with a farewell dinner at Stubborn Seed and drinks at E11even if she’s into that. Yes, lots of eating on my agenda.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my family. I’m incredibly lucky to have them by my side—they’re not just my biggest supporters, but they’re the ones who come to my events, know all my music, and cheer me on every step of the way. Their constant love, encouragement, and belief in me mean everything.

I also want to thank the mentors and fellow artists I’ve had the pleasure of working with—your guidance and collaboration have shaped me into who I am today.
