We had the good fortune of connecting with Liz Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liz, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson my business and career have taught me is the power of self-belief and perseverance.

When I started Family Medical Group in 2016, it was driven by a mission to provide affordable and dependable healthcare, especially for those underserved or burdened by high deductibles. Building something from the ground up required not just strategy but unwavering faith in myself and my vision.

I’ve learned that positive affirmations and a belief in your abilities can push you through even the toughest challenges. Whether it’s expanding to multiple locations, working closely with the legal community, or ensuring patients get comprehensive care, I’ve discovered that success comes from a balance of hustle and heart. Believing in myself allowed me to inspire my team and serve our community effectively.

This lesson isn’t just for business—it’s for life. Trusting yourself, setting clear intentions, and staying committed can turn any dream into reality.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Family Medical Group (FMG) was born from a vision to provide accessible, dependable, and comprehensive healthcare to our community—particularly those underserved or burdened by high deductibles. Recognizing the growing need for specialized care in the personal injury space, we tailored our services to meet the unique needs of individuals involved in motor vehicle and slip-and-fall accidents.

Since our founding in 2016, FMG has grown from a single location to ten across Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. What sets us apart is our all-in-one approach: we ensure that patients and attorneys have access to everything they need under one roof, from diagnostics and treatments to detailed medical reports and expert support. This commitment to efficiency and excellence has earned us trust and strong partnerships within both the medical and legal communities.

The journey wasn’t without challenges. Navigating the complexities of healthcare, building a strong team, and establishing ourselves in a competitive field required perseverance, adaptability, and an unwavering belief in our mission. Each hurdle reinforced the importance of leadership and staying patient-focused.

What I’m most proud of is the impact we’ve made—helping thousands of accident patients recover while giving attorneys the resources they need to support their clients. As FMG continues to grow, I remain committed to finding new ways to better serve our community and expand our services.

At its core, FMG is a story of hustle and heart (hear more on my podcast, Liz’s Hustle & Heart): turning obstacles into opportunities and passion into purpose. My hope is to inspire others to believe in their potential, embrace their journey, and create a meaningful impact in their own communities.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Day 1: Miami Beach & Classics
We’d start the trip with a beach day between 1st and 2nd streets, soaking up the sun and ocean vibes. For lunch, we’d swing by Big Pink for casual bites. Dinner would be a Miami staple: Joe’s Stone Crab, offering an iconic dining experience.

Day 2: Boat Day & Coconut Grove
A day on the water is a must! We’d rent a boat or yacht and stop for lunch at The Standard for laid-back vibes and great food. Later, we’d head to Coconut Grove to stroll through Kennedy Park and grab AC lemonade Icees—a local favorite.

Day 3: Shopping & Dining
We’d spend the day at Aventura Mall, blending retail therapy with art and entertainment. For dinner, we’d visit the exciting Queen, where amazing cuisine meets an unforgettable atmosphere.

Day 4: Arts & Culture
A visit to the Frost Museum of Science would offer an interactive, educational experience. From there, we’d head to Wynwood to admire the murals, sip craft coffee at Panther Coffee, and enjoy the creative energy. Dinner would be at Catch for upscale seafood and vibrant nightlife.

Day 5: Drinks & Skylines
We’d explore Miami’s best rooftop bars, Rosa Sky and Level 6 for great vibes and even better views.

Day 6: Hidden Gems
Dinner at Chef Adrianne’s would showcase Miami’s gourmet flair. Earlier in the day, we’d stop at Mi Tierra for authentic flavors that bring a taste of home.

Day 7: Farewell Fun
We’d close out the trip with a beachside brunch, maybe another visit to Coconut Grove for the relaxed charm, and a final toast to an incredible week exploring Miami’s best spots.

Miami’s vibrant energy, stunning views, and culinary diversity make it a city that leaves you wanting more! I still can’t believe we get to enjoy this everyday.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! My journey wouldn’t be what it is today without the love, support, and encouragement of several key people and influences.

First and foremost, I want to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Jessey. He’s been my rock, my sounding board, and my biggest cheerleader through every challenge and success. His unwavering support has allowed me to grow, take risks, and pursue my dreams fearlessly.

I also want to recognize my amazing team at Family Medical Group. Their dedication and passion for providing quality care inspire me daily. They believe in our mission as much as I do, and their hard work is the backbone of what we’ve accomplished.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge my incredible mentor, Steve Mena. His unwavering support and guidance in both FMG and the PI industry have been invaluable and truly inspiring. He is, without a doubt, an exceptional businessman.
