We had the good fortune of connecting with Telsys Tarallo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Telsys, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
When I first graduated college, I wanted to run the world. I didn’t have kids and my interest were very driven by professional success and wanting to gain experience. Now, 25+ years into my career, I have a single mom of two teenagers with a full life. I’m a business owner, triathlete, yoga instructor, ultramarathoner, paddle boarder and the list goes on. My interest, hobbies and professional goals have changed drastically as my life has evolved and responsibilities have increased. I am into a lot of things, all the mix of all of those things keeps me grounded and reaching for more both personally and professionally. I think if you are laser focused on just one thing, it’s not great. I see people who live for the job and may be professionally successful but are not actually fulfilled in their personal life. You have to water the things that move you in order to be a balanced person and balance a life that is well lived.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Afterglow is a bespoke agency made up of a collective of producers, do-ers, storytellers, creative scientists, magicians and event wizards… that come together to tell brand stories in experiential ways. We give a life and soul to brands and events, allowing consumers to touch, feel and experience them. Our approach is honest, insightful and strategic. With decades of experience in experiential storytelling, we bring efficiency, transparency and a partnership approach to all we do. We tell stories that will not only amaze you but will wow your guests, so that they have touched and felt your brand through our highly curated experiences. Every brand has a story to tell, we are the magic behind the storytelling.

It hasn’t always been easy. We are a small agency and there are a lot of agencies out there doing what we do. What sets us apart is our creative thinking and down to earth approach to experiences.

There are lessons in everyday life and we are constantly learning and adapting to trends and clients. I can’t say we know it all even with 25+ years in the business. Just even last week we produced an event that in all of my days wouldn’t have thought it could go a bit sideways (one of the easiest events we’ve been hired for) and I learned yet something new!

We love what we do. I truly enjoy sitting with clients and connecting, connecting and then making the magic happen. It brings me joy and it shows in our work.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Right now, I live between Atlanta and Miami Beach. Two very distinct cities with very unique vibes.
If we are in Miami Beach, I would say… 3rd Street beach. That is where my kids grew up, where we celebrate birthdays and passings and all of life. I go there for solace. Aside from that in Miami, my go to lunch spot is Lemoni Cafe in the Design District. I just recently had dinner at EntreNos in Miami Shores and it was one of the best culinary experiences I’ve had all year. For drinks, I love the bar at Red Rooster in Overtown.

If we are in ATL, I am obsessed with all things on the Beltline. Drinks at Moonlight is a must. It’s such a swanky place and the city views are unreal. The Optimist is my go to for dinner (my son’s favorite as well). I have to put my feet down at Ponce City Market at least once a month. I love to shop at Souk Bohemian and Elk Head Clothing (insider tip, it’s a men’s clothing store but I score the smalls in all, their fit is unreal!) and Bomb Biscuit for a good southern brunch is where it’s at!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My kids… they support all of my endeavors both professionally and personally. We are a great team!
