Hi Nyree, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want my legacy to reflect a transformative impact in sleep health—a field where I redefined how we understand and treat sleep disorders, especially chronic insomnia and REM sleep deprivation. I hope to be remembered as a pioneer who brought sleep therapy into a new era, making it accessible, effective, and scientifically grounded.

Beyond just medical advances, I want my work to empower people with the techniques they need to reclaim restful, restorative sleep, thereby improving their quality of life. I would love for people to remember me not only as an inventor and leader but also as someone deeply committed to compassionate, patient-centered care. That means leaving a legacy where innovation was always coupled with empathy, making each person’s experience central to every decision. And I hope my efforts have inspired others to think boldly and pursue innovative paths in healthcare.

Ultimately, my legacy would be a life dedicated to giving people something so fundamental—a good night’s REST—and helping them find a happy, health LIFE!!

If my best friend came to town for a week, I’d have the perfect itinerary for them to experience the best of South Florida’s vibrant culture, amazing food, and stunning landscapes. Here’s how I would make it unforgettable:

Day 1: Kick Off with Culture and Cocktails
Morning: We’d start at the Perez Art Museum Miami to explore modern art and take in views of Biscayne Bay. Afterward, we’d stop by the museum’s waterfront cafe for fresh juices and a light brunch.
Afternoon: Head over to Wynwood Walls to stroll through murals by world-renowned street artists and soak in the art-filled, energetic atmosphere. We’d grab a bite at Kush Wynwood for some amazing burgers and craft beers.
Evening: Wind down with cocktails at The Broken Shaker, known for its tropical ambiance and inventive drinks. The vibe here is perfect for relaxing after a full day.

Day 2: Beach and Ocean Adventures
Morning: We’d spend the day lounging on South Beach and maybe hit up Lummus Park for some beach volleyball.
Lunch: A must-stop at Joe’s Stone Crab to try the famous stone crabs. It’s a true Miami institution!
Evening: After a beach day, we’d get dressed up for a night out on Ocean Drive, starting with dinner at Prime 112 for an upscale dining experience, then exploring the lively bar scene.

Day 3: Day Trip to Key Largo for Snorkeling
Morning: Drive down to Key Largo for some snorkeling at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. We’d spend the day snorkeling and soaking up the natural beauty of the coral reefs.
Lunch: A laid-back lunch at Mrs. Mac’s Kitchen for some local seafood and Key lime pie.
Evening: Head back to Miami for a relaxed evening and maybe a movie at The Rooftop Cinema Club in South Beach.

Day 4: Little Havana and Latin Flavors
Morning: Take a walking tour of Little Havana, with stops at Calle Ocho for vibrant murals, hand-rolled cigars, and live music.
Lunch: An authentic Cuban lunch at Versailles—it’s the go-to spot for Cuban sandwiches, croquetas, and sweet pastelitos.
Afternoon: Visit Ball & Chain for some live Latin jazz and salsa dancing, a local favorite since the 1930s.
Dinner: Dinner at La Mar by Gastón Acurio for Peruvian flavors overlooking Biscayne Bay.

Day 5: Nature Day in the Everglades
Morning: Head to the Everglades National Park for an airboat tour, spotting alligators and soaking in Florida’s wild side.
Afternoon: Lunch at Robert Is Here Fruit Stand, where we’d try fresh tropical fruit milkshakes and grab snacks.
Evening: After a day in the Everglades, we’d relax with a chilled-out dinner at Redland Market Village, exploring their food stalls for local and Latin American flavors.

Day 6: Luxury and Shopping at Aventura Mall
Morning: Start the day at Aventura Mall for some serious shopping, from designer brands to unique boutiques.
Lunch: Grab lunch at The Grill on the Alley inside the mall for a stylish break.
Afternoon: Continue shopping or hit the AMC Dine-In Theater at Aventura Mall to catch a film in style.
Evening: Finish the day with sunset drinks at the Serena Hotel rooftop in Aventura, where PROSOMNIA Sleep Health & Wellness is located, perfect for unwinding with a view.

Day 7: Farewell Day with Relaxation and Reflection
Morning: A morning yoga class on the beach at Haulover Park to reflect and recharge.
Lunch: Brunch at Cecconi’s Miami Beach for a cozy, Italian-inspired experience under gorgeous banyan trees.
Afternoon: Wrap up with a visit to the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens—a stunning Italian-inspired estate with gardens that offer the perfect end to the trip.

This week would be a mix of relaxation, adventure, and all the magic Miami has to offer! I’d want my friend to experience the diverse cultures, the beautiful beaches, and the amazing food that make South Florida such a unique place to visit.

My “Shoutout” goes to my dad, Albert Harris. I would not be the woman I am today without his unwavering love, support, and guidance. He has been the foundation of our family and my lifelong “cheer dad”. He has always been there with encouragement no matter what I set out to achieve. Whether it was an early ambition or a leap into something completely new, he has always been right there cheering me on with confidence, and reminding me that, with him and God, I could accomplish anything!!

Growing up, he taught me the importance of respect, kindness, and humility. Those values are woven into every part of my journey; from founding PROSOMNIA Sleep™ to reinventing the boundaries of sleep therapy. His strength and dedication have inspired me to pursue my dream with perseverance. While, his belief in me has been a constant source of motivation.

To this day, my dad is my pillar of strength, my source of wisdom, and my reminder that family is at the heart of everything. His love has truly shaped who I am, and I am endlessly grateful for all he has poured into me and our family.
