We had the good fortune of connecting with Louis Comte and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Louis, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have been passionate about satellite images for years and creating this account (City3D) allowed me to transmit my passion to a higher level.

I had time after losing my job and I used this time to transform my passion into a success on social medias.

It was especially the transition from photo to video that allowed me to be shared and visible on social networks.

Now I’m trying to find a business model that is both profitable while remaining a side hustle. I have just found a job as an architecture and urban planning advisor to the mayor of Paris Centre, which brings together the central districts of Paris.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Today I consider my practice and my creation of 3D city video as an artistic work I put my free time and all my passion in this creation.

Through these videos I share my love for cities and I show their beauty in their differences. They are all unique and marvelous.

Furthermore, the cities are more about a feeling rather than a physical reality. People have these fellings deep inside them and wish to share them with those around them

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. I find that this area is truly wonderful and has many places to enjoy going out, having fun, sunbathing and walking.

I would first take him for a tour of the Bassin de la Villette and the Canal de l’Ourcq and then we would go for a drink in the sun in the Buttes-Chaumont or in the Parc de la Villette.

If he is adventurous I will also take him to see the Petite Ceinture, an old abandoned train line that winds through the heart of the neighborhood, passes over the roads and the canal but also goes deep under the Buttes Chaumont.

Finally, as I love the viewpoints, I will take him to the Belleville belvedere to admire Paris from a panorama that is still little known to tourists.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have been sharing satellite images on my other Instagram account for years and it is truly Google Earth studio and the transition from photo to video that has allowed me to have this popularity. I love to travel in real life, I’ve been enjoying many countries and places. These videos allow you to travel while staying at home.

In my inspirations there are of course aerial photographers and notably George Steinmetz but also Alex McLean, Jeffrey Millstein, Anthony Quigley as well as many satellite image accounts like Daily Overview. It gives us a new perspective on the planet and teaches us how to preserve it.
