We had the good fortune of connecting with Diamond Acevedo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diamond, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m originally from the Bronx, New York, born and raised. Growing up in the Bronx shaped so much of who I am today. As the eldest of my siblings, I witnessed the struggles my parents faced to provide for us. Despite those challenges, they worked tirelessly to ensure we never lacked essentials. Watching their resilience and sacrifices inspired me to become the first in my family to break through barriers—going to college, earning my master’s degree, and stepping into corporate America.
The environment in the Bronx wasn’t easy. Every day, I saw the effects of systemic issues like violence, homelessness, and substance abuse. It was a stark reminder of how easy it could be to get trapped in a cycle. But my parents instilled in us the belief that we could rise above it, and they fought to keep us focused on a brighter future.
My mother, in particular, left a lasting impression on me. She always prioritized our health and well-being, even on a tight budget—making homemade meals, creating natural remedies, and ensuring we stayed active and grounded. My mother, who exuded beauty, grace, and confidence. She taught me that as a woman, you can be multifaceted—strong, smart, sexy, and unapologetically bold, all while maintaining respect for yourself and others. My mother instilled in us the importance of being healthy, both mentally and physically. She made homemade recipes, hair masks, and natural remedies to ensure we lived a healthier, toxin-free life. She encouraged us to avoid junk food, stay active, and remain mindful of what we consumed, physically and mentally. Her dedication to living a healthier lifestyle inspired my journey as the “Low Tox Babe.” These values became the foundation of my personal journey and inspired my brand as the “Low Tox Babe.” Through my platform, I teach others that you can live a vibrant, fun, and fulfilling life while prioritizing health, beauty, and confidence. It’s about embracing your inner and outer strength, making intentional choices, and knowing that you can be bold and beautiful without compromising your well-being. My Bronx upbringing gave me the strength to overcome adversity, the determination to succeed, and the passion to help others live boldly, unapologetically, and toxin-free.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart is my resilience, adaptability, and the ability to embrace a multifaceted life. Professionally, I’m proud of how far I’ve come—from navigating the uncertainty of post-college life to building a thriving career in talent acquisition within the financial technology industry. What excites me most is being at the forefront of shaping organizations by connecting them with incredible talent. Knowing that I play a key role in helping businesses grow and thrive by selecting the right people is deeply fulfilling.
However, the journey to get here wasn’t easy. After graduating college, I worked in the restaurant industry and later higher education before landing my role in financial technology. Being the first in my family to accomplish these milestones came with its own challenges. Without a blueprint or someone to guide me, I had to learn through trial and error. I made mistakes, faced setbacks, and at times doubted myself, but each misstep became a valuable lesson. I quickly learned the importance of pivoting, adapting, and staying focused on my goals. One of the greatest rewards has been paving the way for my siblings—helping them avoid some of the obstacles I faced by sharing my experiences and offering guidance.
If there’s one piece of advice I’d give, it’s to focus on yourself and your goals without comparing your journey to others. The moment you start looking at someone else’s path is the moment you slow down on your own. Life will steer you in the right direction if you stay intentional and open-minded about your purpose. You’re the driver of your own life—keep your hands on the wheel and stay focused on the road ahead.
I’m also proud of the dual life I’ve created: balancing a corporate career while building a social media presence as the “Low Tox Babe.” There’s often a stigma around having a career and maintaining an online presence, but I believe it’s possible—and even empowering—to excel in both. My brand is about living a toxin-free, intentional lifestyle while showing others that you can still enjoy life, succeed in your career, and make an impact.
My story is proof that you can chart your own course, break generational cycles, and live a life that reflects your unique purpose and passions. It’s not about perfection—it’s about perseverance, growth, and staying true to yourself.
