We had the good fortune of connecting with Meredith Stern and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meredith, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want my legacy to be defined by the relationships I build with my clients and the deeply personal, transformative spaces I create for them. My approach to design goes beyond aesthetics; it’s about truly understanding each client on a detailed, individual level—their lifestyle, preferences, and aspirations—and translating that into spaces that are not only beautiful but also uniquely tailored to their needs.

I’m very intentional in my work, taking on only a select number of large-scale projects at a time so I can give each one my full attention and commitment. My undergraduate background in psychology plays a significant role in this process. I’ve applied what I learned about human behavior, emotions, and environments to my design practice, helping clients create homes that positively influence their mood, productivity, and overall well-being.

Many people underestimate how deeply their home’s functionality and appearance impact their happiness and quality of life. I want to be remembered as someone who not only brought beauty and harmony into people’s lives but also helped them realize the full potential of their living spaces as a reflection of who they are and how they live. My ultimate goal is for every project I complete to leave a lasting, meaningful impression on my clients—spaces that bring joy, comfort and inspiration for years to come.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is rooted in creating deeply personal and functional spaces that are a true reflection of my clients. What sets me apart is the meticulous approach I take to get to know each client on a highly detailed level. I don’t believe in cookie-cutter design—every space I create is tailored to my clients’ lifestyles, needs, and aesthetics, with the goal of enhancing their daily lives. My background in psychology also gives me a unique perspective on how our environments impact our emotions, productivity, and overall well-being, and I incorporate that understanding into every project.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me to bring their visions to life. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how a well-designed space can transform not only a home but also the lives of those who inhabit in it. I’m especially excited about the relationships I build through my work. Design is as much about people as it is about spaces, and those connections are what make every project meaningful.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. Starting Meredith Stern Interiors was a leap of faith that came after a significant shift in my life. During the COVID era, my husband and I moved to Florida and undertook a massive home renovation. That experience reignited my passion for design, but starting my own business came with its share of challenges—building a client base, balancing creativity with business logistics, and finding my voice in a competitive industry.

What kept me going was a combination of passion, hard work and the unwavering support of my husband, family, friends and the interior design community. I’ve learned so much along the way, including the importance of patience, resilience and staying true to my vision. Another key lesson is how vital it is to prioritize quality over quantity. I’m selective about the projects I take on because I want to ensure every client gets the attention and dedication they deserve.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that Meredith Stern Interiors isn’t just about beautiful spaces—it’s about creating homes that truly reflect the people who live in them. My goal is to design spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also deeply functional and transformative. At the heart of my work is a genuine desire to make my clients’ lives better by designing spaces that bring them joy, comfort, and inspiration every day.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d plan an itinerary filled with thrifting, vintage hunting and endless design inspiration—my idea of the perfect time! We’d start with a trip to my favorite thrift store in Lake Worth Beach, World Thrift. It’s always brimming with unique finds and hidden gems. From there, we’d head south to Delray Beach to explore spots like ReStore, Goodwill, and Charity Thrift. For dinner, we’d indulge at my favorite restaurant in Delray, The Grove. Their spicy rigatoni is an absolute must—you won’t regret it!

Next, we’d venture to Miami to explore the incredible vintage and antique shops on Biscayne Boulevard. There is a shopping plaza that is a design lover’s paradise—each shop is amazing but my must visits every time are Avra Art, Robert Massello, Cur8ed Studio, Iconic Design Gallery, CastellArts, and Michel Contessa. Each shop offers something truly unique, and I could spend hours soaking it all in. To keep the inspiration going, we’d head to the Design District for a meal at Mandolin, an amazing Mediterranean spot with a gorgeous courtyard that feels like an escape across the world.

While in Miami, we’d make sure to explore Wynwood and the Design District. Wynwood’s vibrant street art and galleries never fail to inspire, while the Design District showcases stunning architecture, cutting-edge design, and curated shops that spark creativity.

Since my home base is in Boca Raton, I would have to take them to visit the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. It’s one of my favorite local spots and a must-see for any design enthusiast. The gardens are beautifully curated, blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with the lush Florida landscape. It’s a serene, inspiring space that highlights the art of intentional design in nature.

This itinerary is the perfect mix of good food, discovery, creativity and the thrill of the hunt—a true reflection of the things I love and the kind of experiences I want to share with those closest to me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, who has been Meredith Stern Interiors’ biggest supporter and cheerleader from day one. Starting my own business has been a rollercoaster filled with challenges and triumphs, and he’s been there every step of the way. His unwavering belief in me and my vision gave me the confidence to take that leap of faith and turn my passion into a career.
