Meet Dr. Saynur Vardar | Periodontist, Leader in Dental Education & 3-steps to Fulfillment Expert

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Saynur Vardar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Saynur, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success is being fulfilled with what you do and where you are in life. Being happy with your life as is.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am the chair of Periodontology Department at Collage of dental Medicine, Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida. I am from Turkey and moved to the U.S. 16 years ago. I finished Dental school and my specialty training combined with PhD in Turkey. After moving to the U. S., I worked as a researcher for a few years at University of California in Irvine, CA and attended specialty training at Boston University after that. One week after my graduation from BU, I had my baby girl. She was my gift from all the challenges I have been through to come to that point in life. I practiced as a periodontist for a while and I missed academia. I started to work as an Associate Professor at Nova Southeastern University while practicing part time. Life was extremely busy and I was very motivated, but things did not hold well so long. I experienced a break down. My health started deteriorating. Mentally and physically I was struggling. Around that time I found Kundalini Yoga and Meditation. I loved it so much that I did the teacher training and became certified yoga and meditation instructor. Also while working on my mental well being, I discovered Functional Medicine. Again, I became Functional Medicine Practitioner. As you can see, I love to learn things that I like in depth. All these tools that I learned and practiced my self and saw how magically they were working, I incorporated them to my practice and my teachings. One of my most important attributes is that I love learning and sharing what I know. It feeds my soul both ways– growth and service– I grow as a person and a professional and share it it my students and my patients and they inspire me to learn more. Such a nice cycle! I have been so priviledged to make a difference now as a leader. I believe in Conscious Leadership where science and compassion meets. Where we treat each other with kindness and enhance each others potential. I created Conscious Living Practices Program and now working on 3-steps to Fulfillment Program where I share how to use tools like Yoga and Meditation, Healthy Life style and journaling to connect to a higher purpose so we feel fulfilled with life as is right now right here.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am an art lover. I see and enjoy life in an art form. I appreciate beauty and esthetics in everything I do. I create beautiful smiles so people can smile freely and spread JOY. Creativity flows in the present moment. When we are present, we can enjoy the simplest things in their subtlety. I enjoy walking in Wynwood area to see on the walls and streets the beautiful expressions of people. I love to smell coffee while walking and sit in a café to talk about life and philosophy and art. My favorite time is December because Art Basel is in Miami. My free artistic spirit flies around that time. I get so inspired. Love to share those moments with people who appreciate it. I love being outside, to feel the breeze on my skin. The best times start in November down here. I spend my time outdoors. Walking by the beach, grab a cruvasant and coffee and sit on the stairs of Perez Museum, immerse in the moment of taste and pleasure. I also love to watch opera. Opera is the most beautiful form of music and theater coming together in a artistic form. We watch with my daughter the whole season of Florida Grand Opera performances in Broward Performing Arts Center.
