We had the good fortune of connecting with Adriana Chambliss and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adriana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my business in Spanish and Bilingual educational and recreational programs because I wanted to motivate young minds to learn another language, while they play, and interact in a recreational environment. My mission with my brand was to create different programs that promoted language learning and culture.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Hola Mundo began back in 2004 as a Spanish Motivational Program. It was offered as an after school program for private local schools around the Pompano Beach and Fort Lauderdale area. The following year, we created a summer program Hola Mundo Camp which ran in Country Clubs in Boca Raton and Pompano Beach area for 8 weeks in the summer.. A Spanish immersion program was offered in the first couple of years, until it became a bilingual (Spanish-English) due to the many campers coming to Florida during the summer to learn English. In 2007 the camp was moved to the beach and since it has been Hola Mundo Beach Camp. What was unique about our program is that our campers are exposed to both languages while they go through their structured summer activities. Our staff is bilingual for the most part and are trained to present the language in a fun manner. Soon after, Hola Mundo Tutoring began assisting Latin American students in the ESOL and ELL programs in all subjects. Hola Mundo Tutoring has grown now to offer academic assistance I. All
Subjects to any students in Grades K-12th. We offer a far as College and standardized test prep. We recently formed Hola Mundo Program a non-for-profit corporation as the “mind in charge” and creator for all of our different programs. Our recent Program “Turn the Trash into Treasure”, an environmental protection program offered to Middle and High School has been a success. Students learn about all aspects of the environment while they clean the beach, and create local campaigns to persuade members of the community to keep the beach cleaned. Creating an art with the help of local artist finalize the project every single year and the City of Pompano Beach displays the art in a public area as a reminder of the dangers that a careless act of trashing can make in our environment. We are beginning to find sponsors, and receive donations to see this program grow and make it available to all public and private schools in South Florida.

We have learned many lessons along the way, all of them positive since for every educational program we start, ideas for the next one have flourished easily.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would show her our beautiful beaches in Pompano. The City has upgraded the area by adding amazing restaurants, parks, and shops. It’s a dream beach town. I would take her down to Fort Lauderdale to see museums and shows. I would take her to my favorite restaurant Cafe Maxx., and not miss Light House Sushi, Houston’s, beach House, oceanic, Thai Spice, Morton’s, Capital Grill and Cafe Martorano. There are so many other restaurants and excellent cuisine in the area of Pompano Beach and Fort Lauderdale. AI would take her to the beach in Fort Lauderdale and visit the malls.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My friend Claudia Garcia Moros created the name of the company. We spent many days together figuring out Learning activities that would be introduced in our lessons.
