Meet Alexi Elias | Live Event & Wedding Illustrator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexi Elias and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexi, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always been an entrpreneur. My entire family is very entrepreneurial so I was exposed to that mindset at a young age. I’ve always been good at art and have spent the last 15 years expanding my skillset. My personal art is a great outlet for me, but I wanted to make more money from my art, therefore I started researching what people were looking for that tied in with my skills and my wedding commissions began. This transpired recently into a live event illustration business where I live sketch guests at events like weddings, non-profits, galas, and more. Overall, I wanted to make more money from my passions and build something that could last that I enjoyed.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business focuses on South Florida live guest portraits that are sketched in real time at an event or wedding. As a live wedding illustrator in Miami and the Fort Lauderdale area, I help the bride and groom by creating unique wedding favors of their guests. I sort of double as entertainment since the guests get to watch themselves or others illustrated in real time. Live illustrated guest portraits will wow your guests and are certain to be a highlight of your South Florida event or wedding! I also work with brands to promote brand awareness by live sketching their guests with their product at an event or location.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would go to the Wynwood Arts district and take them on a graffiti mural tour and explore the Wynwood Walls. I love this area as it is filled with so much art and culture. We would also have to hit up Smorgasburg Miami for some awesome food vendors.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are a lot of people who deserve some credit in my story. As a child my uncle was a very good artist and inspired me to draw comics and cartoons. I was always looking at books by a particular artist, who I now know is Alfredo Bouret. He was a fashion illustrator who worked for Balenciaga. My husband has been my biggest supporter and has been there for me throughout my art career. He also comes with me to my live events on occasion to help me with my business needs. I owe a lot to him and dedicate my recent success to him!
