Meet Kim Rivera | Wedding Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kim, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
One thing that outsiders might not realize about the wedding photography industry is just how much time goes into editing the photos. While capturing the perfect moments on the wedding day is essential, the real work often begins afterward. Editing can take hours, days, weeks, ensuring that every photo is not only technically perfect but also tells the story of the day in a cohesive, beautiful way. It’s a meticulous process that requires attention to detail, creativity, and a deep understanding of each couple’s vision! The goal is to deliver images that reflect the emotion and beauty of the day, and that takes a lot of time and effort behind the scenes.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a wedding photographer, my art is deeply rooted in capturing authentic moments, vibrant colors, and the true essence of a couple’s special day. I’ve always considered myself a creative at heart, and I’ve found that the most meaningful photographs come when I can truly connect with my clients and capture their genuine emotions in the most natural way. My style is all about capturing the moment and day as it happens, ensuring that the photos not only represent the beauty of the day but also the feelings and connections that make each wedding so unique.
I believe that every wedding has its own story to tell, and I pride myself on bringing that story to life in a way that feels real and timeless. My approach is not overly posed or forced—it’s about being present in the moment and allowing the day to unfold naturally while ensuring every shot is beautifully composed.
Getting to where I am today hasn’t been easy, though. Like many creatives, I’ve had to navigate the challenges of building a business, learning to balance the artistic side with the logistics of running a wedding photography brand. There have been tough moments—times when I questioned myself or struggled with finding my place in a competitive industry. But I’ve learned that perseverance, continued learning, and staying true to my passion have been key to overcoming those hurdles. I’ve also learned to trust my instincts and embrace the unique qualities of my work, even if it doesn’t always fit the mold of traditional wedding photography.
The lessons I’ve learned along the way have shaped me both as an artist and a business owner. I’ve learned the importance of patience, not only in working with couples but also in the process of editing and refining my craft. I’ve learned to trust the process and give myself grace when things don’t always go as planned. And most importantly, I’ve learned to never lose sight of the joy that comes with documenting such an intimate, special day for others.
What I want the world to know about my brand is that I’m more than just a photographer—I’m someone who genuinely cares about the people I work with. I want every couple I photograph to feel seen, heard, and celebrated. The photos I create are not just about beautiful compositions—they’re about capturing moments that matter, ones that tell a story. And that’s the heart of my work: telling real, authentic stories through the art of photography.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
SO much to do! Nothing like a shopping day at Brickell City Centre – the views are everything. For lunch, we’d hit Zuma Miami, a Japanese izakaya-style restaurant with delicious food and great atmosphere. I’d spend the rest of the day at Regatta Grove having some waterfront fun! But all this shopping and fun would be IMPOSSIBLE without being fueled by Cuban cafecito from a ventanita! Cuban coffee is a cornerstone of the city’s unique vibe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

From the long hours spent editing to the behind-the-scenes work of running a business, he’s always there to lift me up, offer advice, and help keep things running smoothly. His patience, love, and understanding allow me to focus on my craft and push myself to deliver the best work possible. I truly couldn’t do this without him, and I’m so grateful to have him by my side every step of the way. He deserves all the credit and recognition for the role he plays in my success!
