We had the good fortune of connecting with ANDRES MEJIA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi ANDRES, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The success of Miami Institute is driven by a clear vision, innovation, and a commitment to high-quality education. From the beginning, the goal has been to create an institution that not only teaches but transforms careers in the entertainment industry.

Key factors behind our success:

Relevant and practical education – We go beyond theory. Our courses are designed by and for industry professionals, ensuring that every student gains hands-on, applicable knowledge from day one.

Strong network and opportunities – With connections at Telemundo, Univision, and other major entertainment companies, Miami Institute provides real opportunities for those looking to grow in the industry.

Flexibility and accessibility – As a 100% online and bilingual institution, we enable students from anywhere in the world to access high-level training without barriers.

Constant innovation – We continuously invest in new technologies and educational strategies to stay at the forefront of the industry.

The result: a community of students and professionals who are transforming the industry, one course at a time.

What should our readers know about your business?
Miami Institute is an innovative, fully online, and bilingual institution dedicated to training the next generation of professionals in film, television, and the entertainment industry. What makes us different is our direct connection to the industry. Our faculty consists of leading executives and active professionals, and our programs are designed not just to teach theory but to provide hands-on experience and access to real opportunities.

One of the things I’m most proud of is seeing our students step confidently into the industry, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and connections they need to succeed. Knowing that Miami Institute is creating real impact in audiovisual education is what drives me every day.

The journey to get here hasn’t been easy. Building an educational institution from scratch, especially one with a disruptive model, has meant overcoming significant challenges—from establishing credibility in the market to ensuring that we deliver high-quality education in a digital format. Overcoming these obstacles required a clear vision, an incredible team, and the determination to challenge traditional approaches to education.

Throughout this process, I’ve learned that resilience and innovation are key. The ability to adapt, listen to the needs of students and the industry, and constantly evolve has been essential. I’ve also realized that education must go beyond theory; it has to be immersive and practical, truly preparing students for the real-world demands of the industry.

Miami Institute is more than just an online school. We are a dynamic community that nurtures talent, creates meaningful industry connections, and is redefining entertainment education. Our story is just beginning, and we are committed to opening doors for the next generation of creators and industry leaders.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting Miami for a week, I’d make sure they experience the best mix of food, culture, and the arts. Since I live in Coral Gables, we’d definitely spend time there, walking down Miracle Mile, having brunch at Bachour, and maybe swimming at the Venetian Pool. A visit to the Biltmore Hotel is always a great idea, whether for a tour or a drink at the bar.

For beach time, my go-to spot is South Pointe in South Beach. It’s quieter, has stunning views, and is the perfect place to relax. We’d grab lunch at a waterfront spot like Smith & Wollensky and just enjoy the vibe.

Miami’s theater scene is also something I love sharing. We’d check out Micro Theater Miami, where you can see short plays in an intimate setting, and if there’s a great production happening, we’d visit the Adrienne Arsht Center.

Art and culture are a huge part of the city, so we’d explore Wynwood, the Pérez Art Museum, and the Frost Science Museum for something different. I’d also plan a night out at Faena Theater, which always has unique performances in an incredible setting.

Of course, we’d balance it out with great food. Café La Trova for Cuban cocktails, Amara at Paraiso for the best waterfront dining, and Komodo or Carbone for an upscale dinner. Maybe even a sunset yacht cruise around Biscayne Bay to wrap up the week in style.

Miami has a little bit of everything. Beautiful beaches, amazing food, an exciting arts scene, and nonstop energy. It’s always fun to show someone around and watch them fall in love with the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people and organizations that have played a role in my journey, but if I had to dedicate this shoutout, it would go to Miguel Sahid and the entire Miami Institute and Sociedad Actoral Hispanoamericana (SAH) communities. Miguel has been an incredible mentor, collaborator, and driving force in shaping young talent in the entertainment industry. His dedication to education and the arts has inspired me and countless others to keep pushing boundaries.

I also want to recognize the students and faculty at Miami Institute, who constantly remind me why I do what I do. Their passion, creativity, and commitment to growth fuel my motivation every day. Finally, I have to give credit to the broader artistic and independent business community—the dreamers, creators, and risk-takers who challenge the status quo and bring fresh, meaningful stories to life. Their work continues to inspire me and push me to create more opportunities for emerging talent.
