Meet Claribel Taveras

We had the good fortune of connecting with Claribel Taveras and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Claribel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I honestly just wanted to do makeup. I was working beauty retail, and my opportunity to do makeup were few and far between. I started my business while working retail, and once I found true success in it Belle Beauty, I left. Best decision I could have ever made!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art means the world to me. I get to express myself in a way that makes other people happy, and feel beautiful. That is so fulfilling to me.
I think what sets me apart as an artist and a business owner is the genuine love I put into each and every one of my clients. I’m so grateful for them and I remind them every chance I get. It’s really important to me to treat my clients with love and respect. And I’m so happy to say I have really formed relationships that will last a lifetime.
I’m most proud of how far I’ve come. When I was 19 getting started in the beauty industry, I would’ve never thought I’d be where I am now. I let God lead the way, and here we are. And because of that, I have to say, it wasn’t hard. I grew my clientele while working retail so when I left I had somewhere to start. My clients recommend me so much, and social media has been a tremendous help. If you can focus on putting quality content out there, the clients will find you.
I’ve learned so much along the way, but the biggest lesson is saying no. I was such a people pleaser that I wanted to do whatever made my clients happy, and that would put me in a lot of uncomfortable situations. I had to take a step back and realize I can go above and beyond for my clients while still setting boundaries.
I want the world to know that I put my heart and soul into my business. More importantly, I put God in everything I do. I am so passionate about being a makeup artist, and I feel blessed every single day. I get to make people feel like the most beautiful versions of themselves everyday..what more could I ask for?

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First stop…the beach! When in Rome right? When in South Florida, we beach. Have to stop a Publix for some Pub Subs first, lounge at Fort Lauderdale beach all day, rent some jet skis, and get the best tans.
For the week we’d go to Hollywood beach to ride bikes on the board walk and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.
We’d have to go to Homestead to do ATV’s, and on the way back stop at Coconut Grove and go to the Vizcaya Garden’s. Learn some of the history, enjoy the beautiful architecture. This is a staple in Miami!
We’ll stop at Muscle Beach in Miami to get in a good workout, with the most beautiful view, and then take a dip in the ocean.
A trip to Xtreme Park in Fort Lauderdale to let our inner child be free. Play arcade games, go carting, laser tag and the endless activities they have.
Food is a big part of a trip so I’d take her to Tiesto for some Dominican sushi. Vicky Bakery for some Cuban treats. Cuban coffee is a must when in Miami! We’d get all dressed up and every other night we’re going to either Casa Neos, Sexy Fish, and Gekko for luxurious dinner.
We’d have to take the BrightLine to Kissimmee for a quick Disney trip.
And to end it all, a day trip to the Bahamas to swim with the dolphins, eat good, drink good, and enjoy life.
All of the places I’ve mentioned are staples in South Florida for me. If I had to choose one thing to do, it’d be the beach every single time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
What a question! There’s so many people I could thank. My friends, and my family for their unwavering support. But I have to give it to one of my old bosses in Sephora, Dani. Dani taught me how to blend! Amongst so many other things. Makeup is all about blending. She really changed the game for me. I was just getting started in makeup, and she believed in me. Her educating me really took me to the next level. Couldn’t thank her enough!
