We had the good fortune of connecting with Anne Morrissey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anne, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
For me, I don’t think it’s a matter of giving up, it’s a matter of making adjustments until I get it right. For example, recently a project I’d put a lot of work into, absolutely did not perform, and I was stunned! I tried a different version and still nothing. I really had no idea what was wrong and I could have given up – I certainly thought about it. Instead, I decided to reach out for feedback, and I got it! I had been so close to the project I didn’t see some of its shortcomings and where I wasn’t clear enough. So I continued finetuning and I’m now at the really exciting point of watching the results come in. So, no giving up, keep making adjustments until you see what you want to see.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I believe that it’s easy to get into a groove with your business when you think you’ve arrived. When you can coast a little because it’s no longer a struggle and you’re enjoying it. That certainly was the case for me pre-pandemic. And then comes the wake-up call… and I’m in uncharted territory after 13 years of one on one personal styling. I believe that in challenging times, the best course is to expand and not contract. so I’ve been in expansion mode for months now, searching for leaner and more accessible ways of helping people. So the transition is happening now. I’m working on a YouTube show, monthly memberships and digital products that help people understand that they can use their image and personal style to their advantage and have fun with it. People often ask how do you know when something looks good on you? And how can I get that pulled together look? The new Morrissey Style will give you straightforward ways to style yourself so that you’re happy – and proud!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I think Scenic Drives are a huge part of enjoying th Greater Miami Area, because thre’s no place like this! They need to see the ocean and drive over the many briges. And you can always stop and get lost at Wynwood the Grove. Go through the incredible tree tunnels of Old Cutler Road, Stroll around Bal Harbour Shops and soak up that vibe. Of course it depends on the guest you have in town and what they might enjoy, but you cant go wrong with brunch at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale or the spa at Auberge.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not be where I am without the love and support of many many people. From the sales associates at my favorite stores who treat my clients like gold, allow me to put items on hold and so much more… To my incredible business manager Douglas Hogan that’s great in the areas I am not. My business is a testament to what Douglas and I call the Power of Pairs – we’re so much stronger together. And I have added new people to my team as the challenge of these times has presented well, challenges. Vincent Skully my awesome tech specialist and Kartra expert living in Dublin Ireland. Without Vinnie, I would have been dead in the water with tech frustrations from day 1! Cartintegrator.com Marilyn Crump, Expert Dream Catcher, and Business Coach Extraordinaire in Newport News Virginia. She can see more for me than I can see for myself – priceless! https://www.facebook.com/expertdreamcatcher Susan Malakie long-time homegirl and Executive Recruiter giving me valuable perspectives from the world of work and how things are changing. Sacramento, CA I love that support, love and encouragement come from all over the world! We’re doing great things together for the benefit of all!
