Meet Helena Carmouze | Photographer + Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Helena Carmouze and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Helena, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
All of my life, I’ve loved the arts and creating. Photography was not an original form that I used to create, but once I discovered it, it quickly became something that filled my heart. I discovered my love for photography after I had a session done of myself. That day, I had my hair and makeup done and the experience made me feel so beautiful. I knew that I wanted other women to feel what I did. I picked up a camera and invited a few of my friends over for a girls day. We took so many photos, had such a great time that it only confirmed what I had already known… I was smitten with photography. My friends started recommending me to their friends and my business was born.
I always had the mindset that you need to find something that you are passionate about and find a way to turn that into your primary way to support yourself. I’ve been very lucky that I get to do what I love.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a wedding and family photographer. I love photographing weddings. There is something special about being with a couple on one of the happiest days of their life. Sharing in the love of a wedding day truly makes me happy and I feel blessed to be a part of it every single time.
I would say I am most proud of how much my business has grown and my work has improved over the years. As an artist, I am always striving for perfection and to make my next session better than my last. There is something profoundly satisfying knowing that you’ve created something and that others appreciate it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Miami is an amazing city. It truly is a paradise filled with natural beauty and wonderful people from a diversity of backgrounds. I love meeting new people and learning from them. I’ll tell you a secret…. I love visiting natural areas around the city right before the sun rises. Exploring when there are very few people around has become one of my favorite pastimes. I’d definitely recommend digging a little deeper than what you see.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shoutout to all of the clients and families that have supported me throughout the years. I’d also like to thank my husband for always believing in all of my crazy ideas!
