Meet Yari Sequeira | Licensed Mental Health Therapist and 200 hr. RYT

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yari Sequeira and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yari, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
This is an inviting question that taps into my imagination. The end goal is a smile, filled with satisfaction, knowing I served from my heart within the best I could offer each time. If I visualize it further, the goal would be to expand my services to a degree where I am more than just one on one sessions: workshops, ceremonies, retreats, offered by me and my team. Services from the heart, for the hearts of others, that keep on giving. A book or two or three would be fantastic! Books where I also speak from shared lessons- those received from working with others, and those experienced directly through me. Additionally, having my services also bless my family would be amazing. As an immigrant, with an elder father, I would love to have the blessing of providing freely for my him in a way that could improve his quality of life for his last decades.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Often times people joke about therapy being about answering, “How do you feel?” Feelings for sure are important, yet understanding how the individual can transform their story after understanding the feeling is powerful. That’s my intention! I believe each person can reconcile with their challenges and the way I offer it is by simplifying the complex into practical human language. Expanding perception is my specialty. Through an expanded lens, the person has a clearer view which empowers their choices.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Funny…for me it would not be so much as what to eat, but what to enjoy- the beach (Hallandale or Virginia Beach), nature for picnics and quiet moments (Kendall Hammocks Park, Larry and Penny Thompson Park), Wynwood for a great veggie burger at Love Life Cafe or just walking through the art. Legion Park’s Farmer’s Market, Yellow Green Farmer’s Market for interesting finds. The city has cool offerings for different communities, so for me anything that celebrates culture, art, togetherness would be great to recommend!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Along my journey, there have been many teachers, mentors, supporters, loved ones, that have aided me as I walk my path. The therapist in me lives within the human in me, and as a human I can name different family members who have held me despite the challenges: especially my brother and dad, friends, different Miami Made members, Lila & Michael (teachers), Dr. Elsa Marban, and most importantly myself. I have followed me, believed in me, doubted me and supported me amongst all the different phases thus far. I hold me and sustain me. As a solopreneur, the daily road can feel lonely, deserted and confusing, yet I- we- continue through and through.
