Meet Leo Neira | Chief Mustang Driver – Miami Convertibles Rental Car

We had the good fortune of connecting with Leo Neira and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leo, how do you think about risk?
Entrepreneurship is risk; it’s baked into every decision. For me, the biggest risk was walking away from a stable, full-time position at one of the largest car rental companies in the world. I was climbing the ladder, getting raises, and being recognized for my hard work. But deep down, I was frustrated. The whole focus was on volume and revenue; bookings were made with false promises, bait-and-switch tactics, and zero care for the guest experience. I couldn’t keep being part of that.
So, I took the leap. I walked away from security, invested my life savings, and launched Miami Convertibles with nothing but a great idea, a whole lot of passion, and honestly… not much structure. Most people wait until they have every detail figured out, every spreadsheet perfect. Me? I jumped into the deep end with a tiny life vest and figured it out stroke by stroke.
I knocked on hotel doors, made the sales calls myself, and slowly built trust. It was scary. It was messy. But it was real. That risk gave birth to a brand I truly believe in; a company that values people over profits and delivers unforgettable experiences instead of empty promises.
If I’d waited for the “perfect plan,” I’d still be behind a desk, frustrated. Instead, I get to do what I love, drive cars I’m passionate about, and build a business that reflects my values. Risk isn’t just part of the journey; it’s what makes the journey worth it.

What should our readers know about your business?
Let’s talk about Miami Convertibles; what sets us apart, what we’ve built, and why we’re not just another rental company.
We’re proud to be the biggest convertible car rental company in Miami, and we got here with heart, hustle, and a refusal to do things the boring, corporate way. When I started this business, I came from inside the industry. I knew how the big guys operated; long lines, surprise fees, shady bait-and-switch tactics where people book a Mustang online and get handed a Corolla at the counter. I lived that life behind the desk. And I decided to do the exact opposite.
At Miami Convertibles, we believe in keeping our promises. That’s why we only take paid reservations; it guarantees that when you book a Mustang, you’re getting a Mustang. Book a Jeep? That Wrangler is waiting for you, top down, ready to go. No substitutions, no funny business; just what you booked, period.
We’ve grown into a citywide operation with four pick-up locations:
🚗 Miami Beach – Free delivery to any hotel in Miami Beach
🚗 Downtown Miami
✈️ Miami International Airport
✈️ Fort Lauderdale Airport
No long lines. No waiting around in some soul-crushing office. No hidden fees. No “surprise upgrades” you didn’t want. Just smooth, top-down freedom and sunshine from the second we hand you the keys.
But we’re more than just cars; we’re your Miami insiders. When you rent with us, you’re not just getting a ride, you’re getting the vibe. We share our favorite local spots; where to go, where to eat, where to dance, and where to snap those epic photos that’ll make your trip unforgettable. Whether it’s rooftop views in Brickell or beachside bites in South Beach, we’ve got you covered.
What I’m most proud of is that we’ve never lost our soul, even as we’ve grown. We still treat every guest like a VIP. We’ve built trusted partnerships with the top luxury hotels in the city. We’ve been fully booked every weekend for years. And it’s all because we stick to what we believe in: honesty, quality, and unforgettable experiences.
So if you’re looking for stress-free, top-down Miami fun, welcome!. We’re Miami Convertibles, and we’ve saved you the best seat in town.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Miami for a week? Buckle up, because I’m rolling out the real Miami. Top down, music up, let’s go.
Day 1: Welcome to Paradise
Pick them up at the airport in a gleaming Mustang convertible, engine purring like it knows what kind of week is ahead. First stop? Joe’s Stone Crab in South Beach. Classic, iconic, and you must get the key lime pie. After dinner, we cruise Ocean Drive, top down, letting the neon lights and ocean breeze work their magic.
Day 2: Sunrise to Salsa
We start early at South Pointe Park; perfect for a sunrise walk or epic drone shots with the skyline in the back. Brunch at The Local House (great vibe, amazing lobster benedict), then beach it up. Afternoon Jeep adventure out to Wynwood, checking out murals, sipping cold brew at Panther Coffee, and snapping some seriously Instagrammable shots. At night? Drinks and dancing at Ball & Chain in Little Havana; live salsa, mojitos, and pure energy.
Day 3: Island Life
We rent a boat or hop on a catamaran for the day and cruise around Star Island and Biscayne Bay; swim, sun, and maybe spot a celebrity mansion or two. Dinner at Mandolin Aegean Bistro in the Design District; Mediterranean perfection under twinkling lights.
Day 4: Culture + Nightlife
Art fix at Pérez Art Museum and a walk-through Museum Park. Lunch at La Mar for waterfront Peruvian fusion. We head back to get ready for a full night out in Brickell; starting with rooftop drinks at Sugar, dinner at Gekko (fancy sushi + celeb scene), and then wherever the night takes us. You know how Brickell goes.
Day 5: Day Trip Jeep Style
Time to take the Wrangler out for a real adventure; road trip to Key Largo or Everglades National Park. Windows down, reggaetón blasting, pit stops for conch fritters and gator bites. Epic nature, wild ‘gram shots, and a total change of pace.
Day 6: Locals Only Vibe
Sleep in, then hit up Boia De for lunch—tiny spot, big flavors. Afternoon chill at The Standard Spa, steam room, cold plunge, zen city. Evening food crawl through Sunset Harbour—drinks at Pubbelly, tacos at Bodega, finish with a nightcap at Sweet Liberty (arguably the best bar in Miami).
Day 7: Full Miami Moment
We wrap it up full circle; brunch at Cecconi’s, beach cruisin’ on Collins Ave, one last spin down the Venetian Causeway with the top down. We hit a rooftop to watch the sunset, maybe Serena or 1 Hotel’s Rooftop and toast to a week they’ll never forget.
Miami’s not just a city; it’s a vibe, a soundtrack, a state of mind. And when you’ve got the right car, the right crew, and the right energy? Oh, it’s magic. That’s what we give our guests at Miami Convertibles; not just the keys, but the whole experience.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
None of this would’ve been possible without my wife. When I told her I was thinking about leaving a steady paycheck and a stable job at one of the biggest rental companies in the world to chase a dream… she didn’t flinch. She backed me 100%. No doubts, no second-guessing; just pure support. That kind of belief? It fuels you in ways nothing else can.
Later on, she didn’t just cheer from the sidelines; she joined the ride. She stepped in as our Chief Marketing Driver and helped take this business to the next level. From branding to booking flows, from Instagram stories to fine-tuning the vibe of our messaging, she’s been instrumental in building what Miami Convertibles is today. It’s one thing to have a partner in life; it’s another level to have a partner in business who brings just as much fire and vision.
And of course, a big shoutout to my entire family who supported the hustle from day one. They were there when it was just an idea, helped brainstorm names, watched me stress over the first bookings, and celebrated the little wins that turned into big milestones.
So yeah, I might be the Chief Mustang Driver; but this whole thing? It’s been a family-powered engine from day one. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
