We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacob Da Costa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacob, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
We pursue an artistic/creative career because it’s something we all share a passion about. Doing something you love comfortably at a stage where it won’t drastically affect your living is encouraging to try and break past the threshold of it being a hobby and becoming more of an occupation. We have really big ambitions to try and make the whole music thing work and even though there are so many other people trying to do the same, we encourage it! There is no reason to try and be better than your neighbor who has the same dreams and goals as you. It’s supposed to be a community, we should be helping each other out.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In music we know it can be a pretty competitive field always having to push yourselves and stand out. I’d say we don’t always strive for that but we try to stand out by making sure our shows are more than just us playing, we like to make it an experience in whatever ways we’re able. I wouldn’t say we’ve made it either so I can’t say it was difficult to get to where we are, we’ve just been trying to do our thing the best way we know how. We do like to pride ourselves on making sure our connections with people are authentic and more friend-like opposed to a business transaction and we’re always eager to connect with people and build this little community.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’re all from different locations but in Orlando some of my favorite pastimes with friends are getting Boba or Coffee in the downtown area and checking out this record shop called ParkAve CDs. We also love hitting up Wawa for food and roaming around some of the local nature scenes. I’d also recommend the Florida Mall for passive hanging out or Arcade Monsters. I don’t think I’m allowed to leave the theme parks out if it’s Orlando but those are worth a look for sure.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I grew up in music and was brought up mostly by my brothers who let me play shows with their band when I was a freshmen in high school. Aidan (drummer) shares similar background being in his brother’s college band when he was in high school as well as well as Bryce (guitarist) doing extracurricular music activities outside of school. It helps that our families still support us to this day, my brother even helps with the process for making our songs. I would also like to make a shoutout to my friend Sofia Camille. She is an artist based in Orlando, FL and I was connected with her through my brother. After joining her band I’ve been able to gain so many opportunities and meet so many wonderful people.
