Meet Nicole Repich | First of all Mom to Olivia and Millie, Small Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Repich and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Work-life balance looks completely different now that I’m a mom to two little ones. It’s hard, really hard. Starting a business isn’t a 9-to-5 job; it’s 24/7, and when you’re also raising kids, it can feel like there’s no off switch.
In the beginning, I was just trying to find moments to squeeze in work during naps or after bedtime. There’s no clean separation between work and home life all blends together. And honestly, I’m still figuring it out.
I’ve had to let go of the idea of “perfect balance” and instead focus on what’s most important in the moment. Some days, the business needs more from me. Other days, my family need me more. I try to give myself grace and remember that building something meaningful takes time, energy, dedication, passion and love and so does raising a family. It’s not easy, but I’m proud to be doing both.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Although I have a background in Business, I had wanted to learn to sew for a long time, just for fun but it wasn’t until I became a mom that I finally went for it. I took a handful of classes, but most of what I’ve learned has been self-taught—lots of trial, error, and late nights. I started out making bows because I wanted cute, affordable ones for my daughter. From there, I expanded into making book sleeves, Kindle and e-reader covers, and other small handmade items.
One of the things I’m most proud of is how personal and intentional each product is. I thrift fabric and upcycle it into beautiful bows and book sleeves—so when someone buys from me, they’re often getting a one-of-a-kind piece that no one else will have. That uniqueness means a lot to me. I also purchase fabric from small businesses and independent artists, which feels really meaningful—it’s a way of supporting other creatives and keeping my supply chain full of heart.
I’m still in the very early stages of my business, but I know what I’m creating is made with so much care and love. That’s what I want people to feel when they receive something from me. It’s not mass-produced. It’s something real, something thoughtful.
Getting here hasn’t been easy. I’m a mom of two little ones, juggling family life and a business that doesn’t run on a 9-to-5 schedule. But I’ve learned that progress doesn’t have to be fast to be meaningful. I’ve learned to trust my instincts, lean into creativity, and keep showing up—even when it’s hard. I believe in what I’m building, and I’m excited to keep growing and sharing it with the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d want them to experience the natural beauty and vibrant community that make this area so special. We’d start by exploring the trails right near my home. The nature paths are truly magical quiet, lush, and a perfect way to unwind and soak up the sunshine. I’d take them to some of my favorite local spots for a relaxed meal and coffee in town.
Then, we’d hit the nearby Gulf Coast beaches, places like Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel Island, which are absolute musts. White sandy shores, calm waters, and stunning sunsets. For dining and drinks, I’d take them to a few local favorites, think fresh seafood shacks and cozy cafés with a laid-back vibe. Southwest Florida is full of hidden gems with delicious food and friendly people who really make you feel at home.
To wrap up the trip, we’d explore the arts scene or maybe check out a farmer’s market. These places are always full of creatives and makers, which always inspires me as a small business owner.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My biggest inspiration is always my daughters. Everything I do is with them in mind—I want to show them what’s possible when you chase your dreams, even when it’s hard. My husband deserves so much credit too; constantly encouraging me and believing in me, especially on the days I needed it most.
I’m also incredibly grateful to my dad and my siblings. Always my biggest fans! My friends, an extension of my family. And of course, I owe a huge thank you to every single person who has ever made a purchase from me. It might seem like a small thing, but to me it means everything. Their support is what keeps me going full force ahead.
