We had the good fortune of connecting with Kacedrine Calixte and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kacedrine, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a mother and event planner, I realized that my children rarely had the chance to connect with their friends outside of birthday parties or special events. This sparked the idea for ZaKa’s Playground—a space where children can come together to explore their creativity and imagination in a fun and educational setting. Our goal is to create meaningful meetups that inspire learning, connection, and endless possibilities for kids.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Crafting has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. I was that kid who loved making birthday cards, decorating school projects, and gluing tiny pieces of paper to create something special. In college, after being elected President of a student organization at Miami Dade College, I fell in love with event planning — from the organizing to the decorating, I enjoyed every bit of it. That experience sparked something bigger, and over time, I leaned into that passion. Now, planning events and bringing visions to life has become my thing — and it shows in the little details I love to include in every design.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Just a few months ago, I celebrated my birthday with a Miami Takeover Weekend! A few of my friends flew in — some of them visiting Miami for the first time from Connecticut and New York — so I had to give them the full Miami experience. We started in Wynwood to dive into the local nightlife, then hopped on a private luxury yacht from Miami Beach that took us on an unforgettable tour of the exclusive islands and gave us the most stunning views of the city skyline. One of the highlights was R House Drag Brunch — the energy, the performances, and the award-winning drinks made it a celebration to remember!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
ZaKa’s Playground is inspired by my children, Zayne (6) and Kazayah (7), hence ZaKa. Seeing how much children need time to play, explore, and learn in meaningful ways is what inspired me to start this initiative — a brand built with their growth and joy in mind.
