Meet Anastasiia Smorgun | Singer Songwriter Actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anastasiia Smorgun and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anastasiia, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
It’s difficult for me to choose just one quote or affirmation — I find guidance, peace, and strength in many. My compass in life is the Bible. It’s more than a book to me — it’s a source of identity, hope, and unwavering truth. Here are a few of my favorite scriptures that deeply shape how I see myself and the world:
1.”Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.”
(John 1:12)
You are not just a creation — you are a beloved son or daughter of the Heavenly Father. You belong to a divine family.
2.”There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
(Romans 8:1)
Your past is covered by grace. God doesn’t see you through your mistakes, but through His love. You are accepted and forgiven.
3.”Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.”
(Romans 8:17)
You have access to His promises, His protection, His wisdom, His love, and eternal life. You are an heir of the Kingdom.
4.”Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you?”
(1 Corinthians 6:19)
You are the dwelling place of God’s presence. His power and wisdom live within you. You are a temple of the Holy Spirit.
5.”You are the light of the world… Let your light shine before others.”
(Matthew 5:14–16)
You carry a mission — to bring light, hope, and truth into places of darkness and confusion. You are the light of the world.
6.”Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.”
(Jeremiah 1:5)
You are not an accident. You were designed with purpose. You are deeply loved, known, and cherished by God.
7.”But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
(Romans 5:8)
The Cross is His eternal statement: You matter to Me. His love is proven once and for all through Calvary.
8.”Neither death nor life… can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus.”
(Romans 8:38–39)
His love is unshakable. Even your weaknesses don’t scare Him. Nothing can separate you from His embrace.
9.”Even the hairs of your head are all numbered.”
(Luke 12:7)
You are under His constant care. You are seen, valued, and protected — every moment, every day.
And here are two of my daily affirmations that keep me grounded, joyful, and aligned:
✨ “What a day, what a day, what a beautiful day — joyful, abundant, peaceful, lucky, healthy, prosperous, full of blessings!”
✨ “I am smart, I am beautiful, I am loved, I am worthy, I am capable, everything works out for me — I am with God, and God is with me!”
These affirmations remind me to stay connected to gratitude, self-worth, and divine purpose — they uplift my spirit and energize my day.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is my music — my songs and the videos I create for them.
Each song comes from the heart and carries a part of my soul. My goal is to bring people joy, spark genuine emotion, and offer something real — whether it’s a smile, a moment of reflection, or even a chance to feel sadness together in a safe and healing way.
I’m Ani, a singer based in Miami — but what sets me apart is that my music is deeply personal and rooted in real experience.
I’m not just a performer — I’m a daughter, a wife, and a mother. I write and sing in the quiet spaces between family life, faith, and reflection.
Each of my songs comes from the heart and is inspired by something I’ve lived through. I pour a part of my soul into every lyric and melody. Often, you’ll hear themes of gratitude, hope, and trust in God woven into my music — because that’s what carries me through life, and I want my songs to carry others too.
My art is not manufactured — it’s lived, felt, and offered with love.
I believe pride is a beautiful feeling — as long as it’s grounded. I’m truly grateful to do something that brings me joy and feels aligned with my soul. It took time to get here, but I’m beyond thankful that God gave me not just life, but the chance to live with purpose — to not just survive, but create.
What should I fear, if God is with me? I pray, I listen, and I receive. Like any woman, I have moments when dark thoughts creep in. There are days — sometimes even weeks — when I feel lost or overwhelmed. But I turn to prayer, I wait for signs, and I pay attention. And when I do, I always see them. That gives me the strength to pull myself out of the storm and keep going.
How did I get to where I am?
I never stopped — whether it was a little or a lot, I kept doing what I love. I prayed for guidance and asked God to lead me. I seek opportunities, I grow, and I constantly search for wisdom — and this helps me bring my vision to life.
When I hit rock bottom, I listened to my heart — because when you have nothing to lose, that’s when you finally try the things you once put off.
We only live once. Better to try and gain experience than to spend a lifetime wondering what if.
In this life, nothing comes easy or for free. Everything depends on your inner beliefs and desires.
What we have today is the result of choices we made years ago — and the internal battles we fought: with fear, with doubt, with the urge to give up. I truly believe the world runs on two forces — good and evil. Good encourages and uplifts. Evil hides behind false “caution,” keeping you frozen when you’re meant to move.
When someone is hurting but still gets up and creates — writes that book, finishes that song, builds that project — then good surrounds them, and help will come.
But if you stay on the couch and never begin — then the fear has already won.
To have something, you have to take steps every day in that direction, no matter what.
Do I struggle? Of course. Sometimes it’s painful, sometimes slow. But always, always — with prayer and faith.
I’ve learned that life is short. We’re not here just to run in circles — we’re here to rejoice, to notice beauty, and to find the light no matter what.
Trust God in all things, and act as if what you dream of is already yours. Be grateful for every person and every moment. Stop and see the joy.
We wake up and rush: school, work, groceries, cooking, cleaning… The endless “to-do” list.
But in all this hustle, we forget to feel joy. And if everything feels heavy, how can joy even enter?
Yes, we are adults. No, we can’t run through fields all summer. But we’re still human. We still have ourselves.
We must carve out moments of light — moments to breathe, smile, and share that joy with those around us.
Our children mirror our emotions and our behavior. If we live joyfully, they’ll grow up knowing happiness and pass that light forward — generation to generation, creating a ripple of goodness.
When it rains and the streets are empty, I love walking barefoot through the warm summer rain — hearing it, smelling it, feeling the droplets on my skin.
I stop to smell flowers when I see them.
I try to catch the little blessings God places in my path — whether it’s a lake, a forest, an ocean, or a mountain.
Every moment is a gift if you’re paying attention.
I want the world to know that I didn’t come from privilege or perfect circumstances — I came from faith, perseverance, and a deep love for music.
My story is one of healing, gratitude, and second chances. I want people to feel seen, loved, and uplifted through my songs.
I’m not just building a brand — I’m sharing a testimony.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, everything in this world is relative.
For one person, a 3-star hotel can become the story of a lifetime — while someone else might find flaws even in a 5-star resort, ignoring all the luxury around them.
If my best friend came to visit, my first advice — especially for someone exploring solo — would be: get lost on purpose.
Yes, really. Pick a spot, like Wynwood, turn off your GPS, and just wander.
Observe. Walk into galleries and cafés. Try things just because they catch your eye. Let your heart lead. Follow your curiosity. It’s a beautiful way to rediscover yourself in the moment.
For couples, it would be great to visit the legendary Miami Beach, walk along Ocean Drive, and take a stroll down Lincoln Road…
When I first arrived in Miami, it overwhelmed me with its size and endless possibilities. I used Eventbrite to find cool events and explored landmarks by simply tapping around on Google Maps, picking places that looked interesting or felt right.
For families — this city is a playground in every sense.
There are so many indoor and outdoor play areas, fun attractions, and of course — Disneyland!
My tip for families is to balance the days: one day follow the child’s wish, the next day follow your partner’s, and another day — do what you really want. Everyone gets a turn, and that brings harmony.
In my opinion, the most fun, exciting, and memorable people, places, and moments are the ones that you truly notice with your heart — the ones you genuinely admire and enjoy.
Like I said before, some people are moved by the smallest things, while others are never satisfied, no matter how much they have.
But one thing I believe everyone can appreciate:
watching a pink sunset with your favorite snack on any beach in the Miami area — no matter which part of the city you’re in.
Be happy, and follow what lights you up. ✨

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost — my deepest gratitude goes to God. He has guided me on this journey since early childhood. He gave me life, He gave me talent, and He saved me — more than once.
When my mother was just three months pregnant with me, doctors warned her that due to severe bleeding, I would not survive. But by God’s mercy and the care of an incredible doctor — Shaaban Fayez Akhmetovich, who still works as an OB-GYN at Maternity Hospital No. 4 in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine — I was saved.
At the age of nine, I survived a serious car accident. It happened in the early 2000s, in a country where cars were very basic — especially in terms of safety. Back then, seat belts in the back were either missing or broken, and child car seats were practically unheard of.
That night, my father, his friend, and I were driving after a long day. My father was exhausted from work. The highways had no lighting, no lane departure warnings — nothing. At some point, the car veered off the road, flipped, and rolled into a ditch.
His friend, who was sitting in the front seat, flew through the windshield and tragically died.
I was sleeping on the back seat. No seatbelt, no protection — and yet, I didn’t even have a bruise. God and His angels saved me. There’s no other explanation.
Years later, I was led to safety again — this time from my home country to Turkey, two years before the war in Ukraine began 2022. Every step of the way, I’ve seen God’s hand.
He also gave me a beautiful family that supports and inspires me.
My mother Anna has always stood by my side, encouraging my dreams.
My father Igor, and my grandmother Lidiya, filled our home with music — always listening to the radio as they worked. It sparked a love for music in me.
My first music and acting teacher, Liubov Iljinichna Chepyzhko, taught me from kindergarten and later in the performance group “Debut” at the Palace of Culture vat “Dniprospetsstalʹ” in Zaporizhzhia. She was the first to help shape my voice and stage presence — and today she runs her own vocal studio, ArtStyle Vocal Studio, still in my hometown.
I’m also incredibly grateful for my loving and wise husband, Mykola Smorgun (CEO of Lumighost – Game Development Company, lumighost.com). He gives me the freedom to create, supports my music every step of the way, and makes sure I never have to walk this road alone.
I want to thank my sweet little daughter — she sings with me, she smiles when I rehearsal, and that joy reminds me why I do this. Even when I doubt myself, knowing that a child finds joy in my songs gives me reason to keep going.
And yes, even my little furry light a Jack Russell Terrier deserves a mention — he’s more than a pet. When stress or discouragement overwhelms me, just petting him or playing a little reminds me that life is beautiful, and my worries shrink back to size. He’s like a small angel in a fur coat.
I am grateful to Laurie Miller from the group O-Baby (formerly Expose) — not only for letting me be part of her group, but for giving me the name “Ani”, a short and sweet version of Anastasiia that I now use with pride.
I’m also thankful to everyone who once envied or rejected me. They kept me from straying off course — their resistance only made me more determined to keep pursuing music. Their “no” became my fuel.
And finally, thank you to ShoutoutMiami Magazine for this chance to share my story. I’m honored and blessed by this opportunity.
Blessed be!
