We had the good fortune of connecting with Thomas Thorogood and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Thomas, what do you attribute your success to?
In short: people. A strong, reliable team is essential to both individual and collective growth. Our success is rooted in surrounding ourselves with people we trust—people who bring peace of mind to our clients and consistency to our work. I strive to build relationships with those I can walk hand in hand with, not just in business, but through life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So many of the opportunities I’ve had have come simply from being willing to learn and being available to work. My partners and I live by a core belief: you can’t teach personality or work ethic, but if someone genuinely wants to learn, we can teach them anything. (how to run lights, DJ, or program an LED wall.)

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that things wont always go exactly as planned. What sets you apart is how you respond when they don’t. Our team’s answer to challenges is rarely “no.” Instead, it’s “let me find out” or “let’s see what we can do.” Some things may be out of our control, but when people see you giving your absolute best, they usually understand and appreciate the effort. Our goal is always going to be perfection, and that’s why we are so hard on ourselves, but the grace to accept when things are the best they can be is important as well.

What truly sets our brand apart is how personally we take our work. We care deeply. We’re a group of individuals who chose to be in live event production because we love it, not because we had to be.

This industry isn’t easy. It comes with long hours, missed holidays and birthdays, and sacrificing weekend events with friends and family, because those are our busiest days. But that sacrifice and dedication is what shaped who we are today. I never ask anything of my team that I haven’t done myself. Before joining Global Production Source, I spent years freelancing. I was fortunate to maintain strong relationships with the companies I worked for, many of whom I now call friends. I try to pass that spirit forward by mentoring those I work with now and creating an environment where they can grow and thrive.

I make it a point to support my team in pursuing their passions. If someone loves audio, I’ll prioritize them for that role whenever possible. Whether it’s video, lighting, or any other discipline; if you want to do it, I’ll do my best to help you make a living doing what you love. The goal has always been to create memorable experiences and to provide opportunity. People might not remember what you say, but they will remember how you made them feel.

From the outside it might look like I’m a workaholic. But the truth is, I just love what I do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My professional life is so full of parties and crowds that when it comes to personal time I’m going right out to nature and the water. We’re off to somewhere like Oleta River State Park or up to John Dickinson State Park to go kayaking or paddle boarding.

I’m a big believer in doing tourist activities in a place you live. A week leaves plenty of time for beautiful places like Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, Living Sculpture Sanctuary in Davie, the more urban side of things like Wywood walls, or the Frost Museum of Science (which also has an art museum next door, including art features outside if you’re not quite feeling up for the double header.)

Food? Let’s go to Shima and eat off the sushi boats, or head over to The Taco Stand for some quality tacos. Even though I’m a big fan of the outdoors that South Florida has to offer, I’m still going to say it’s worth catching a concert or a local sporting event. The options are endless down here if you know what you’re looking for.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my success to everyone who came before me and generously shared their knowledge, helping me grow both personally and professionally. To those who continue to support and collaborate with me, and to the friends and family who have believed in me and cheered me on every step of the way, your encouragement has made all the difference.
